Abstract
Det er beskrevet et apparat (10) for bestemmelse av metallgjenstanders posisjon i en sammenblandet inngangsstrøm av både metall- og ikke-metallgjenstander. Apparatet omfatter en metallpåvisende differensialspole (14A) som har et første parti viklet i en første retning og et andre spoleparti av generelt samme fasong og størrelse som det første og viklet i en andre retning motsatt den første, og transportutstyr (11) for å flytte gjenstander i forhold til og forbi den metallpåvisende differensialspole i et plan og i en retning med enhetsvektor â. Apparatet har som særtrekk at det andre spoleparti er forskjøvet fra det første spoleparti med en forskyvning B som har en komponent i planet i en retning med enhetsvektor B, hvor 0 < cos-1 â ? ? < p/2, idet apparatet også omfatter analyseutstyr for å analysere formen av utgangsspenningen fra spolen som funksjon av tiden for å bestemme posisjonen av nevnte metallgjenstander i en retning c i planet, hvor c er definert ved â ? c = 0
