Abstract

Fugefyllsand for betong og andre belegningssteiner som er kjent for å virke som et substrat for ugressvekst. Foreliggende oppfinnelse reduserer drastisk behovet for ugresskontrollarbeid ved å gjøre fugefyllsanden til et fiendtlig substrat for plante og soppvekst ved bruk av et miljømessig akseptabelt mineraladditiv med langsom frigivelse. Additivet har en tilsvarende kornstørrelsesfordeling og med lignende mekaniske og rheologiske egenskaper og danner en integrert del av fugefyllsanden. Den spesifikke tettheten til additivet er lavere en kvartssand og gir en tendens til at additivet migrerer mot den øvre delen av fugen. Additivet fører til at prevannet er rikt på natrium og høy pH, og begge kvaliteter opprettholdes over en lang tidsperiode. Blandingen av additiv og sand kan håndteres og anvendes ved bruk av konvensjonelle leggeteknikker og utstyr, ved å iaktta de samme foranstaltninger som brukes for mørtel eller sementblandinger med sand. I miljøet vil reaksjon med C02 i luften eller i jordporøsiteten inaktivere etsekraften og danne uskadelige karbonatsalter.
