Abstract
En hensikt med den foreliggende oppfinnelsen er å tilveiebringe en avsvovlings- og raffineringsmetode for hydrokarbonolje for å redusere svovelforbindelser til en ekstremt lav konsentrasjon til en relativt lav utstyrs- og driftskostnad. Metoden for å avsvovle hydrokarbonoljer omfatter å forårsake at en hydrokarbonolje som inneholder minst én svovelforbindelse valgt fra gruppen bestående av tiofenforbindelser, benzotiofenforbindelser og dibenzotiofenforbindelser eller en hydrokarbonolje som videre inneholder aromatiske hydrokarboner, å bringes i kontakt med en fast syrekatalysator og/eller aktivt karbon inneholdende et overgangsmetalloksid. Den faste syrekatalysatoren er fortrinnsvis en fast supersyrekatalysator valgt fra sulfatert zirkonoksid, sulfatert alumina, sulfatert tinnoksid, sulfatert jernoksid, wolframert zirkonoksid og wolframert tinnoksid.
