Ved en fremgangsmåte og med en anordning for bestemmelse av resthøyden (rh) til en kjøreledning (2) blir det foretatt målinger i rette strekningsavsnitt, hvor kjøretråden befinner seg i nærheten av skinnegangens midte, for derved å kunne bestemme en korreksjonsverdi for bredden til sideveis avleiringer (5) på slepeflaten (4). Derved korrigeres også tilstedeværelsen av riller (3). Den på denne måten bestemte korreksjonsverdien kan benyttes for i de resterende strekningsavsnitt å bestemme resthøyden (rh) ved hjelp av slepeflatens (4) bredde.
