Abstract
Det er utviklet et lagdelt materiale som kan anvendes i en rekke forskjellige prosesser. Materialet omfatter en indre kjeme, som for eksempel en kordierittkjeme, og et ytre lag omfattende et ildfast, uorganisk oksid, en fibrøs komponent og et uorganisk bindemiddel. Det ildfaste, uorganiske oksidlag kan utgjøres av aluminiumoksid, zirkoniumoksid, titanoksid, osv., mens den fibrøse komponent kan utgjøres av titanoksidfibere, silisiumoksidfibere, karbonfibere, osv. Bindemidlet bestående av et uorganisk oksid kan utgjøres av aluminiumoksid, silisiumoksid, zirkoniumoksid, osv. Laget kan også inneholde katalytiske metaller som for eksempel gull og platina, samt andre modifiseringsmidler. Det lagdelte materiale fremstilles ved belegging av den indre kjerne med en oppslemning omfattende det ildfaste, uorganiske oksid, en fibrøs komponent, en forløper for et uorganisk bindemiddel og et organisk bindemiddel som for eksempel polyvinylalkohol. Materialet kan anvendes i forskjellige hydrokarbon omdannelsesprosesser, inklusive fremstilling av vinylacetat.
