Abstract

Konvensjonelt kreves målinger for å sikre stabiliteten av et skip når det er skadet. Oppfinnelsen er kjennetegnet ved en fjernåpningsbar sjøvannsinnløpsanordning tilveiebrakt i et nedre vanntett dekk som danner et tomrom i bunnen av skipet. Når en sideplate eller liknende av skipet har blitt skadet og sjøvann trenger inn i skipet, kan sjøvannet som derved har trengt inn i skipet innføres i tomrommet ved å åpne sjøvannsinnløpsanordningen tilveiebrakt i det nederste vanntette dekk slik at tomrommet, som vanligvis gir stor ekstra oppdrift, kan fungere som en slags sjøvannsballasttank, hvorved skipets stabilitet kan gjenvinnes.
