Abstract

Den foreliggende oppfinnelse tilveiebringer nye aerobe, grampositive alkalifile bakterier som er blitt isolert fra alkaliske natronsjøer og områdene omkring disse. Disse alka- lifile bakterier er blitt analysert i henhold til prinsippene ved numerisk taksonomi i forhold til hverandre og dessuten i forhold til en samling av kjente bakterier. Dessuten er disse bakterie-taksa ytterligere avgrenset ved hjelp av en analyse av lipidkomponentene som tjener som kjemotaksonomiske marke- rer. De alkalifile bakterier ifølge den foreliggende oppfin- nelse danner alkalitolerante enzymer som kan utføre sine funksjoner ved høy pH, hvilket gjør dem unikt egnet for anven- delser hvor det fordres slike ekstreme betingelser.
