Abstract

En aktiv bestanddel for en terapeutisk eller kosmetisk blanding erholdes fra levende gastropoder (f.eks. snegler) som blir fysisk stimulert (f.eks. ved sentri- fugering) for å forårsake sekresjon av en væske, som så blir sentrifugert og filtrert. Fortrinnsvis blir gastropodene fastet før den fysiske stimulering. De terapeutiske eller kosmetiske blandinger inneholder omkring 0,1-30% av den aktive bestanddel, som er en blanding av aminosyrer og atoksiske substanser, en effektiv mengde av en eksipient foretrukket for bruk med biologisk aktive bestanddeler, og andre konvensjonelle bestanddeler, forutsatt at de ikke påvirker stabiliteten og/eller aktiviteten. Den terapeutiske blanding i form av en topisk krem kan brukes for å behandle forskjellige typer brannskader, dermatitis, eksem, bleieutslett og sår som er vanskelig å lege. Den kan også brukes for å forhindre hudkreft og radiodermatitis. Den kosmetiske blanding blir brukt som hånd- og ansiktskrem, anti- rynkekrem, solkrem, fuktende lotion og deodorant.
