Abstract
En fremgangsmåte for dekontaminasjon av stålkomponenter forurenset med radioaktivt materiale omfatter de trinn at (a) en materialmasse tilveiebringes som innbefatter (i) en andel av stål som bærer radioaktivt materiale, og (ii) en masse av slaggdannende materiale, (b) materialmassen smeltes slik at det fås et volum av smeltet stål og et volum av slagg, idet det radioaktive materiale som opprinnelig er tilstede på stålet migrerer til slaggen, og (c) slaggen separeres fra det smeltede stål. Massen av slaggdannende materiale vel- ges slik at det fås en på forhånd bes- temt konsentrasjon av radioaktivt materiale i slaggen. Konsentrasjonen kan velges slik at den er tilstrekkelig fortynnet til å tillate omhåndtagen av slaggen uten restriksjon.
