Abstract
Forbindelser med både kal- siumantagonist- og antioksidantaktivi- tet er beskrevet. Forbindelsene kan anvendes til forhindring eller forbed- ring av skade på vev på det cellulære nivå. Det er også beskrevet behand- lings fremgangsmåter hvor disse egen- skapene til forbindelsene og tilsvar- ende farmasøytiske preparater anvendes. A - Y - B hvor: A er en antioksidant med terapeutisk signifikant ut- renskningsaktivitet for fritt radikal; antioksidanten er en benzofuranderivat eller et benzopyranderivat. Y er (CH2)n eller CH=CH(CH2)B, hvor n er et helt tall fra 1-6; og B er valgt fra gruppen bestående av n' er et helt tall fra 1-6; Z er H, CN eller OH; X er F, Cl, I, Br, OH, OR', SH, S(0).R', CN eller N02, hvor R' er Cj-Cj-alkyl og m er O, l eller 2; og o er O, l, 2 eller 3, eller et farmasøytisk akseptabelt salt derav, men med unn- tak av forbindelsen hvor A er a; Y er (CH2)n hvor n er 1; og B er a' hvor X er Cl, o er l og Cl er i 4-stillingen.
