Olje-i-vann emulsjoner der oljefasen omfatter kondensert eller oppløst olje-løselig gass/væske eller gassforløper er nyttige som ultralyd-kontrastmidler. Slike produkter inneholder ubetydelige mengder av frie gassbobler eller mikrobobler under lagring, og framviser god lagringsstabilitet, men kan utformes slik at de fremmer rask dannelse av mikrobobler umiddelbart før eller ved administrering.
