Abstract
En forbedring i en kontinuerlig prosess for fremstilling av "high internal phase" emulsjoner som typisk polyineriseres for å tilveiebringe mikroporøse åpencellede polymere skum- materialer som er i stand til å absorbere vandige fluider, særlig vandige kroppsvæsker slik som urin. Forbedringen innebærer resirkulering av en del (omtrent 50% eller mindre) av emulsjonen trukket ut fra den dynamiske blandesonen av denne kontinuerlige prosessen. Dette øker ensartetheten av emulsjonen som til sist oppnås fra denne kontinuerlige prosessen ved at den har vanndråpene homogent dispergert i oljefasen. Dette forbedrer også stabiliteten av HIPE og utvider temperaturområdet for helling og herding av denne HIPE under etterfølgende emulsjonspolymerisasjon.
