Kaszt górniczy, stosowany w podziemnych zakładach górniczych do podparcia stropu, składa się belek (1) i (2), ułożonych w warstwach jedna na drugiej, poprzecznie usytuowanych. Krzyżujące się belki kolejnych warstw w miejscu styku posiadają wręby (3) o długości co najmniej równej szerokości belek, pozwalające na wzajemnie przenikanie się belek na głębokość dostateczną dla uzyskania styku dolnych i górnych powierzchni najbliższych sobie równoległych belek kasztu. Ułożone jedna na drugiej belki tworzą ściany (I, II, III, IV, V, VI i VII) połączone ze sobą w wyniku wzajemnego przenikania belek kolejnych warstw.
