Reakcję przeprowadzano w następujący sposób: do N,N,N*-trihydroksyetylo-N*-stearylotrimetylenodiaminy dodawano wodę w ilości ok. 20% i 40%-owy kwas fluorowodorowy. Uzyskaną masę o konsystencji pasty homogenizowano przez ugniatanie i suszono nad środkami odciągającymi wodę lub na powietrzu. Natomiast związek o wzorze 2 otrzymywano przez działanie stechiometrycznej ilości 40%-owego kwasu fluorowodorowego na metanolowy roztwór oleiloaminy.
