Abstract

This method is an application in the field of metallurgy. It is a complex technology for obtaining manganese, copper, nickel, and cobalt. The method is conceived in the following way: after reduction, the roasted manganese concentrate is extracted in the absence of air at temperatures of 20-40 degrees C for 3 to 90 minutes by a solution which contains in g/l 80 - 270 ammonia, 30 - 170 carbon dioxide. Then the obtained pulp is separated into a solution from which through aeration for 30 minutes to 8 hours the manganese and slime fractions are separated; in the next processing stage the well known ammonia-carbonate extract of copper, nickel and cobalt is obtained.

Sposób otrzymywania węglanu manganowego z konkrecji manganowych w procesie amoniakalno-węglanowymMethod of obtaining manganese carbonate from manganese concretions in the ammonia-carbonate process

Wynalazek dotyczy sposobu otrzymywania węglanu manganowego z konkrecji manganowych w procesie amoniakalno-węglanowym.The invention relates to a method of obtaining manganese carbonate from manganese concretions by the ammonia-carbonate process.

By using the ammonia-carbonate technology to treat manganese concretions, only metals such as copper, nickel and cobalt can so far be obtained, with manganese remaining unused in the leach material.

The direct use of manganese leach material containing 14-32 wt.% Manganese as a manganese additive in metallurgy is limited.

The preparation of manganese concentrates from the leaching material by acidic methods, such as, for example, leaching with sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, sulfur dioxide under normal or elevated pressure, again requires a significant increase in processing costs.

The above-mentioned imperfection is eliminated by the use of the ammonia-carbonate process related to the preparation of manganese, which, according to the invention, consists in leaching the manganese concretions immediately after reduction calcining with an ammonia-carbonate solution at a concentration of 80-270 g / dm 3 of ammonia. and 30-170 g / dm 3 of carbon dioxide in the absence of air, in a vessel equipped with an agitator at a weight ratio of liquid to solid phase of 2-10. The leaching is carried out for 3-90 minutes at 20-40 ° C. After leaching, the sludge is pumped into a sedimentation vessel where the phase separation is carried out without air access to the solution and the rest of the solid phase. The solution is pumped from the sedimentation vessel by means of a closed pipe for control filtration and hence, without air access, into a venting vessel provided with an agitator and at the bottom for even ventilation with a ring equipped with nozzles. As the end product of the 30-minute to 8-hour ventilation process, manganese is obtained in the form of an insoluble compound, which contains carbonate in the further processing of manganese concretions to obtain copper, nickel and cobalt using the known ammonia-carbonate method from the solid phase remaining after leaching of the reduced inaccessible air of manganese concretions.

The advantage of the mentioned method is that by extending the ammonia-carbonate technology of manganese nodules treatment with the air-locked part of the leaching of reduced manganese nodules, manganese is also obtained in addition to copper, nickel and cobalt. Manganese separates readily from the solution in the form of manganese (II) carbonate by ventilation. After the separation of manganese, the ammonia-carbonate solution is used in the further treatment of manganese concretions to obtain copper, nickel and cobalt in the known ammonia-carbonate method. Another advantage is that manganese leaching has a positive effect on the cobalt yield in the further part of the leaching of manganese concretions. The original three-component technology turns into four-component technology, which enables a more comprehensive use of the raw material with a minimal increase in investment costs.

Wydajność manganu wynosiła 51%.Example Manganese concretions containing 29% by weight of manganese were leached after reduction roasting in the absence of air with an ammonia-carbonate solution at a concentration of 190 g / dm 1 2 3 of ammonia and 110 g / dm 3 of carbon dioxide with a weight ratio of liquid to solid phase equal to 5 in for 10 minutes at approximately 20 ° C.
