Description
Przedmiotem wynalazku jest sposób wytwarzania formowanych adsorbentów mineralno-węglowych, przeznaczonych do usuwania zanieczyszczeń organicznych, w szczególności produktów naftowych, z wód i ścieków.The subject of the invention is a method for producing molded mineral-carbon adsorbents intended for removing organic pollutants, in particular petroleum products, from water and sewage.
The method for obtaining mineral-carbon adsorbents, known from Polish patent specification No. 107,835, involves the action of strong mineral acids on an inorganic matrix, preferably in the form of bleaching earth or zeolite, coated with organic compounds rich in elemental carbon, and carbonization at a temperature of 383 K - 523 K for 1 to 30 hours. After washing with water and drying the carbonization product, the finished product is a powdery adsorbent. A disadvantage of this method is the use of strong mineral acids, which, after chemical treatment, are partially unreacted and washed with water until neutralized, resulting in a large amount of acidic wastewater. Another disadvantage is the need to conduct the reaction at elevated temperatures, which creates technological and apparatus problems during the treatment process, particularly when using highly oxidizing and chemically aggressive acids and their solutions. Moreover, the powdery form of the produced sorbent is difficult to use and transport.
Proces karbonizacji prowadzony jest przy ciągłym mieszaniu i kontrolowanej ilości powietrza, niezbędnej doPolish patent description No. 152 033 describes a method for producing mineral-carbon sorbents from porous inorganic substances, such as siliceous earths, diatomaceous earths, aluminosilicates and other clay minerals, coated with organic substances rich in elemental carbon, by thermal carbonization in a limited space and with zone-specific temperature and gas composition variations. The carbonization process is carried out with continuous stirring and a controlled amount of air, necessary for
Na wejściu surowca utrzymuje się temperaturę minimum 273 K, a w obszarze doprowadzenia powietrza od 673 K - 1273 K.182 080 to produce a carbonized organic substance in the amount of 1 - 25% by weight on a mineral matrix, most preferably in the amount of 600 - 2100 m 3 of air per 100 kg of organic substance contained in the inorganic matrix. The temperature at the raw material inlet is maintained at a minimum of 273 K, and in the air supply area from 673 K - 1273 K.
The disadvantage of this method of obtaining a mineral-carbon sorbent is the need for precise, controlled carbonization of the organic substance deposited on the mineral matrix, in particular maintaining a zoned temperature change and providing the appropriate amount of air relative to the organic substance contained in the mineral matrix, as well as maintaining a minimum temperature of 273 K. Furthermore, the carbonization process, which requires the supply of air at temperatures ranging from 673 K to 1273 K, is very complex and requires continuous mechanical mixing. The resulting sorbent has the disadvantage of being dusty.
Polish patent application no. P. 299,862 describes a method for obtaining granulated carbon-silica adsorbents, which involves creating a dispersion system composed of adsorbents in a liquid, drying it, and hydrothermally treating it at a temperature of 423 K - 623 K. The liquid used is distilled water, hydrogen peroxide solution, or ammonia solution. The adsorbent is a carbon-silica sorbent obtained by pyrolysis of methylene chloride on an inorganic support, particularly a non-porous pyrogenic silicon oxide.
The disadvantage of this method is the need to first create a carbon deposit on a powdery inorganic mineral matrix through high-temperature pyrolysis of methylene chloride. This process produces aggressive hydrogen chloride. The next step involves creating a dispersion system of adsorbents in a liquid, drying it, and resubmitting it to the thermal process.
The invention provides a method for producing molded mineral-carbon adsorbents. The essence of the method according to the invention is that 5-60% by weight of a porous inorganic matrix in powdered form, preferably in the form of montmorillonite and/or siliceous earth, activated with mineral acids and coated with an organic substance in the form of fatty acids, naphthenic acids and their derivatives, and/or resinous substances, is mixed with 5-45% by weight of powdered bentonite and 0-40% by weight of powdered char from wood processing and/or other solids containing elemental carbon. Water or diluted electrolytes are then added to the mixture and mixed until a uniform, homogenized mass is obtained. This mass is then formed into extrudates, dried, crushed, and carbonized, after which they are ground and segregated into fractions. It is preferable to conduct the carbonization process in a rotary kiln, under oxygen deficient conditions, with countercurrent flow of the raw material to the reaction gases, and at a temperature of 673 K - 1223 K, preferably 773 K - 1023 K. Waste bleaching earth from the final refining of edible oils is used as the porous inorganic matrix; dusty charcoal from wood processing is used as the char; and dusty mineral-coal sorbent, dusty brown coal, carboxymethyl cellulose, sawdust, spent bleaching earth from the oleochemical and refinery industries, polymers, and rubbers are used as solids containing elemental carbon. Water glass, sodium hydroxide, or dilute mineral acid are used as dilute electrolytes.
The mineral-carbon adsorbents produced by the method of the invention, in addition to their highly favorable physical form resulting from the grain formation, which allows them to be used as adsorption-filtering beds in typical adsorption systems, are characterized by comparable or significantly better quality and effectiveness compared to known powdered mineral-carbon adsorbents, resulting from their sorption capabilities. The adsorbent's porous structure has a very wide range of pores, from micropores to macropores. This is a result of the use of the initial mineral matrix and the microporous carbon deposit created during the carbonization process. The grain fractions of the obtained adsorbents, due to the carbon deposit being active in sorption processes, are characterized by hydrophobicity and an affinity for organic compounds.

The invention is explained in embodiment examples which present a method for producing formed mineral-carbon adsorbents from various starting raw materials.
Przykład I. 1000 kg odpadowej ziemi bielącej pochodzenia bentonitowego z rafinacji końcowej oleju rzepakowego, zawierającej 30% masowych substancji organicznej, miesza się w mieszalniku zetowym z 250 kg pylistego bentonitu, 250 kg pylistego odpadowego węgla brunatnego i dodaje się wodę, aż do uzyskania jednorodnej masy o konsystencji ciasta. Wytłoczki suszy się w suszarce komorowej, w temperaturze 373 K - 403 K, w wyniku czego uzyskują one żądaną wytrzymałość mechaniczną i dzięki czemu zachodzi częściowe spolimeryzowanie substancji organicznej. Otrzymuje się 1050 kg formowanego adsorbenta mineralno-węglowego, w postaci regularnych ziaren o średnicyExample I. 1,000 kg of waste bentonite-based bleaching earth from the final refining of rapeseed oil, containing 30% organic matter by mass, is mixed in a Z-type mixer with 250 kg of powdered bentonite and 250 kg of powdered waste lignite, and water is added until a homogeneous dough-like mass is obtained. The prepared mass is then extruded using a screw extruder equipped with a head similar to a sieve bed into cylindrical extrudates with diameters ranging from 0.5 mm to 6 mm. The extrudates are dried in a chamber dryer at a temperature of 373 K - 403 K, as a result of which they achieve the desired mechanical strength and partially polymerize the organic matter. The dried extrudates are crushed and heat treated in a rotary kiln for 15 minutes at a temperature of 923 K in the central zone of the kiln. Carbonization is carried out with an oxygen deficiency and a countercurrent flow of reaction gases relative to the feed direction of the carbonized raw material. During heat treatment in the rotary kiln, a carbon deposit with a microporous structure is formed. The resulting adsorbent is cooled, crushed using a two-roll crusher, and segregated into fractions using a sieve screen. 1050 kg of formed mineral-carbon adsorbent is obtained, in the form of regular grains with a diameter of
