Celem wynalazku jest zwiększenie współczynnika ekspansji piany asfaltowej uzyskanej w końcowej fazie modyfikacji asfaltu. The aim of the invention is to increase the expansion coefficient of the asphalt foam obtained in the final phase of asphalt modification.

The invention is a method for modifying asphalt binders with a two-component mineral-oxide additive, in which the component is natural or synthetic zeolite. The process involves mixing natural or synthetic zeolite with copper oxide nanoparticles in a mass ratio of 20:1 to 10:1. The resulting mixture is added to a liquefied asphalt binder in an amount of 4% to 6% by weight of the asphalt binder. Mixing takes place at a temperature of 150°C to 180°C until a homogeneous mixture is obtained, for a period of 5 to 20 minutes.

A beneficial effect of the invention is an increase in the expansion coefficient of the asphalt foam obtained in the final stage of asphalt binder modification, resulting from the introduction of oxygen atoms with a negative partial charge, which enables higher water activation. This results in a lower production temperature of asphalt mixtures. A beneficial effect of the invention is limiting the introduction of chlorine atoms into the structures of modified asphalt binder components through substitution reactions. This increases the resistance of asphalt binders to the destructive effects of de-icing salts used during the autumn and winter seasons. Furthermore, a beneficial effect of the invention is limiting the structural changes in asphalt binders modified with a mineral-oxide additive, which leads to changes in the interactions between them. Another beneficial effect of the invention is the improved adhesion of the asphalt binder to the aggregate by creating strong intermolecular bonds between the upper atomic layer of the mineral aggregate and the nanoparticles of the mineral-oxide additive, which improves the water and frost resistance of the asphalt mixtures. Another advantage is the reduction of the release of acidified solutions into the natural environment, which negatively impacts fauna and flora.
