Wynalazek dotyczy sposobu wytwarzania 17a-oxa-D-homo-androst-1,4-dien-3,17-dionu, o wzorze 2, na drodze mikrobiologicznej hydrolizy estru, utlenieniu powstalego alkoholu do ketonu, a nastepnie utlenianiu typu Baeyera-Villigera do ?-laktonu w pierscieniu D, z wykorzystaniem systemu enzymatycznego szczepu Penicillium lilacinum AM111, w którym jako substrat stosuje sie propionian 1-dehydrotestosteronu, o wzorze 1. Sposobem, wedlug wynalazku, mozna otrzymac zwiazek, który ze wzgledu na swoja aktywnosc biologiczna, jest stosowany w przemysle farmaceutycznym.
