Abstract

The subject of the invention is a tool for strengthening the surface of openings with one-sided access in elements of low stiffness by rolling or sliding burnishing. It can be used to strengthen the anti-fatigue area around the connection holes in aircraft sheathing sheets, as well as in other devices where rivet and screw connections are exposed to cyclic stresses. The tool for burnishing holes in metal sheets is characterized by the fact that it is a sleeve (1) with a mandrel (3) placed in its internal space (3) with a cone-shaped tip (4) (5) on the surface of which the burnishing elements are placed ( 6) located simultaneously in the notches in the wall of the sleeve (1), whereby the pin (3) is connected to the sleeve (1) through a coupling element (8), whose ends are located in the longitudinal notches (10) of the sleeve (1). On the handle side (11) on the sleeve (1) there is a housing (12) connected to it through an axial-radial bearing (13) and a thrust bearing (14), between which there is a spring (16). In addition, the housing (12) is equipped with a lever (17) for the stem (3) in relation to the burnishing elements (6). The tool is also characterized in that the burnishing elements (6) are conical rollers with a taper angle equal to the taper angle of the stem cone (3). Also, the tool according to the invention may have sliding burners as burnishing elements (6).
