Abstract
Surprisingly, a correlation was found between the concentration of selenium and zinc in whole blood and serum and the risk of death in patients diagnosed with kidney cancer. Surprisingly, kidney cancer patients with low selenium and zinc concentrations in whole blood and serum were found to have an increased risk of death compared to patients with higher selenium and zinc concentrations. Additionally, a correlation was found between the zinc to selenium (Zn/Se) ratio in whole blood and serum and the risk of death in patients diagnosed with kidney cancer.
