Nieoczekiwanie ustalono, że istnieje bardzo mocna, nawet ponad 20-krotna korelacja, pomiędzy stosunkiem stężeń miedzi do cynku w próbce surowicy a ryzykiem zgonu z powodu raka prostaty wśród chorych z tym nowotworem.
