Description

Wedlug dalszej odmiany sposobu wedlug wy¬ nalazku mozna wytwarzac wlókna zawierajace wielopasmowy material, a takze liny, sznury wy- 55 konane z dwu i wiecej splotów, sznury zwykle, przedze lub materialy wlókiennicze z nich wy¬ twarzane. Liny, sznury i sznury o dwu i wiecej splotach, wytwarzane z wielopasmowego materia¬ lu wedlug wynalazku, maja lepsze wlasciwosci laczenia niz tego rodzaju wyroby z wlókna poje¬ dynczego. 2.Wedlug fig. Igly moga byc unoszone do góry i opuszczane w dól z predkoscia wyznaczana przez efekt jakiego oczekuje sie w go¬ towym produkcie.Przyklad. 2, którego igly poruszaja sie wystarczajaco szybko w kierunku toru przebiegu folii i z powro¬ tem. Porozcinana folie przepuszcza sie nastepnie 20 przez zespól krazków obracajacych sie z predkoscia przekraczajaca od 3 do 5% predkosc drugiego zes¬ polu krazków naciskajacych i podobny do tkaniny material wytworzony w ten sposób, gromadzi sie na krazkach magazynujacych. aa PL PLThe present invention relates to a method for high-speed production of a multi-strand material having a regular mesh structure from an oriented film, resulting in the material exhibiting uniform properties along its entire length. The method of the invention comprises producing the multi-strand material by splitting, cutting, or tearing a synthetic resin material into a plurality of strands, wherein adjacent strands may be completely separated or may be joined at regularly or irregularly spaced intervals along its entire length. The tube or tape may be stretched by tearing, cutting, slitting, or otherwise dividing. The tape or film of oriented synthetic resin material may be of any thickness suitable for separation, cutting or tearing longitudinally into a larger number of strands as described above, a thickness of about 0.40 mm, preferably 0.25 mm, has been found to be advantageous for many purposes. For other applications the material may have a thickness of, for example, 350 µ or less, preferably not more than 250 µ. The synthetic resin material may be any such material which is capable of being formed into a continuous tape or film and which can be oriented. Examples of such materials are polyalkenes (e.g. polyethylene, polypropylene, etc.), polyamides (e.g. nylon), polyesters (e.g. polytetraphthalate esters). In one embodiment of the invention, the tape, pipe or film is cut or divided into a plurality of separate strands by means of a series of parallel cuts through the entire length of the tapes or films. In another embodiment of the method according to the invention, the tape, pipe or film is cut or otherwise divided in such a way that the resulting strands remain locally connected to each other at regular or irregular intervals throughout their entire length. If necessary, the rows of adjacent cuts can be offset from each other in a direction transverse to the length of the tape. The direction of the cuts in adjacent rows can also be changed so that the cuts in adjacent rows are arranged non-parallel. The rows of cuts can also overlap if necessary, with the cuts in one row being partially located between the cuts in the adjacent row. In the most advantageous embodiment of the invention, the tape, tube or foil is divided by a plurality of cuts arranged in such a way that when the divided tape or foil is stretched laterally, a net-like structure is created. The synthetic resin material can also be wavy so that the cuts, slits or other divisions are located The method according to the invention can also produce a multi-strand material consisting of a plurality of elongated, longitudinally oriented strands of synthetic resin material, wherein adjacent strands are permanently connected at regularly or irregularly spaced intervals along their entire length, the joints having a thickness equal to the thickness of the connected strands. According to yet another embodiment of the method according to the invention, a fabric- or mesh-like flat or tubular structure is produced consisting of a longitudinally oriented synthetic resin material, said strands being permanently connected to each other to define free spaces in the fabric- or mesh-like structure, the thickness of the joints being equal to the thickness of the individual strands being connected. In a further embodiment, the method according to the invention provides a fabric- or mesh-like flat or tubular structure consisting of a longitudinally oriented synthetic resin material, said strands being permanently connected to each other to define free spaces in the fabric- or mesh-like structure, the thickness of the joints being equal to the thickness of the individual strands being connected. In an embodiment of the invention, a tape, tube or foil is produced from a longitudinally oriented synthetic resin material provided with a plurality of longitudinally spaced slits, the slits being so arranged that stretching the tape, tube or foil in the transverse direction creates a net-like structure. The cutting of the tape, tube or foil can be carried out according to the invention by passing the tape, tube or foil through a plurality of blades arranged at certain mutual intervals in a parallel arrangement, the spacing being regular or irregular. The blades can also be replaced by a plurality of needles arranged in a similar mutual arrangement. Continuous contact of the tape, tube, or foil with the blades or needles causes the tape, tube, or foil to be divided into a number of separate strands. Intermittent contact with the blades or needles causes the material not to be cut along its entire length. Two or more blades or needles may also be used in an offset arrangement, the tape, tube, or foil contacting one row and another successively, or simultaneously, a larger number of rows of blades or needles. The rows of blades or needles may also be arranged on a drum at certain distances in offset arrangement, the drum then rotating so that the tape, tube, or foil passes over its surface while in contact with the blades or needles. A mesh structure can also be obtained by this method. The cutting of the strip, tube or foil can also be carried out by passing the strip, tube or foil through a comb-type spinning machine, preferably one in which alternate combs are offset from each other, or which is provided with a number of rows of teeth offset from each other. Irregular cutting of the strip, tube or foil can also be carried out by passing the strip, tube or foil between carding or unwinding rollers (corrugated rubber rollers 35 arranged at right angles). When using a film in the form of a tube to carry out the method of the invention, the tube should be flattened, i.e., in the form of two stacked films joined on their long sides. Any of the multi-strand materials made by the method of the invention, including a fabric-like or net-like structure, may be twisted to form a continuous yarn or may be cut into filaments. Such continuous yarns or staple fibers can be used either alone or in admixture with other fibers or yarns, both natural and synthetic, to make cords, ropes, twine cords or in the production of textile materials. According to a further variant of the method according to the invention, fibers comprising multi-strand material can be produced, as well as ropes, twine cords or yarns, plain cords, yarns or textile materials made therefrom. The multi-strand material according to the present invention is soft to the touch and has a high degree of elasticity, and fibers produced therefrom are softer to the touch and have a higher degree of elasticity. while maintaining high tensile strength, it is more flexible than single fibers of the same diameter. These properties are very advantageous in the production of ropes, cords, cords with two or more strands, and textile materials, and constitute a clear improvement over the same materials made from single fibers. Ropes, cords and strings with two or more strands produced from the multi-strand material according to the invention have better bonding properties than similar products made from a single fiber. Furthermore, it has been found that when the multi-strand material or fiber produced by the method according to the invention is passed for a certain time between two surfaces moving one against the other and under a suitable pressure, a swelling effect is achieved on the material or fiber, which depends on the applied pressure and the duration of this procedure. According to a further embodiment of the method according to the invention, the multi-strand material or a yarn made from it is passed between two surfaces moving one against the other for a certain time and under a suitable pressure to achieve the swelling effect on the fiber or yarn material. The oriented tape, tube, or film may be produced by any method. The production of the oriented tape, tube, or film may also be carried out simultaneously with the slitting of the tape by the method of the invention, or in a continuous manner. Twisting to form a fiber, or cutting to obtain a staple fiber, as well as further processing to produce a yarn, may also be included in such a continuous process. The denier of the resulting yarn depends on the degree of elongation during orientation and the initial thickness of the tape, tube, or film. For a given degree of elongation, the denier can be varied over a wide range by varying the thickness of the tape produced before its orientation. Thus, the denier can be changed continuously by means of a relatively smaller presentation of the slitting elements which slit the film before it is oriented, and it is then not necessary to operate the machine to change from one denier to another. This method can produce fibers of the same denier or different deniers along their entire length. When producing ropes, cords with two or more strands or simple cords, the oriented tape can be fed directly to a comb spinning machine, modified if necessary by means of mutually offset successive combs or by using combs with a greater number of rows of teeth in a mutually offset arrangement. The continuous process, starting with the preparation of the resin mixture and ending with the obtaining of a multi-strand material, is explained in more detail in the drawing, which schematically shows the continuous process applied to foil. The rotating comb shown in the drawing is provided with pins mounted preferably at an angle to the tangent to the surface, in order to avoid tearing off thin tapes from the oriented strip, tube, or foil. Instead of a rotating knife comb or a stationary comb, any other strip-dividing element can be used, such as a comb-type spinning machine or a carding or unwinding roller. The subject of the invention is shown in the drawing, where Fig. 1A and 1B show a continuous process starting from a resin mixture and ending with the production of a multi-strand material, Fig. 2 shows one of the methods of dividing, cutting or longitudinally tearing a film, pipe or tape, Fig. 3 - a cross-section of the most advantageous form of the needle shown in Fig. 2. According to Fig. 1A and 1B, the raw material intended for the production of pipes is fed to the extruder 10 where it is heated and pressed through the nozzle 12. At the same time, air is blown through the nozzle 12, thus blowing the pipe 14, the diameter of which is larger than the diameter of the nozzle 12. The pipe 14, made of a synthetic resin material, is passes through an air-cooling ring 16 and then through two compression discs 18, from which the tube 14 emerges in a flattened condition. While still in the flattened condition, the tube 14 passes through a series of stretching discs 1, 2 and 3 (shown in both Fig. 1A and Fig. 1B). Between the rollers 2 and 3 is a cutter 20 (shown in both Fig. 1A and Fig. 1B) which cuts off the ends of the tube 14, thus forming two films 22 and 24 of synthetic resin material. These films may then either be wound onto rollers A and B (shown in both Fig. 1A and Fig. 1B) or, at an appropriate film production speed, may be passed directly to the next processing step (dashed line in both Fig. 1A and Fig. 1B). Each film of synthetic resin material, either directly from the cutter or from the storage discs 40, then passes through a series of discs 26, through a hot water bath 28 (or hot air chamber) which is preferably at least 1.2 m long, and then through a second series of discs 30. The discs 30 rotate at a speed which is greater, preferably 5 to 10 times the speed of the discs 26. This increased speed, in combination with heating through the water bath, the temperature of which is from 80 to 100°C or preferably from 98 to 100°C, provides orientation of the film. The oriented film is then separated, cut or slit longitudinally by means of a rotating comb 32, which is not driven but rotated by the film, and the resulting multi-strand material is wound onto a series of film storage rollers 34. It is clear that if the pipe itself is used as the starting material for the production of strands, the use of the slitter 20 is omitted, whereas if the pipe is to be converted into strips, a second slitter must be used, situated upstream of the first set of rollers 26 and provided with a greater number of knives. A greater number of slitting devices should also be provided here. It should also be noted that many other variations of the apparatus shown in Figures 1A and 1B can be used. For example, the water bath can be replaced by a steam jacket or by a heated contact plate. As has been found, the most advantageous form of contact plate is a hollow plate with a curved lower part under which the foil slides. The contact plate is preferably made of copper or brass and filled with oil heated to the required temperature by means of a heating element or in any other way. For polyethylene, the temperature at which orientation has been found to occur most readily is about 100°C, so that any of the heating methods mentioned above can be used. However, when using polypropylene, orientation does not readily occur at temperatures below 120°C, and it is therefore preferable to use a contact plate for this type of material. If the material is in tubular form, it is advisable not to use a contact plate, because then only one of the two joined and stacked films will be in contact with this plate. When using a contact plate, each of the roller assemblies 26 and 30 can be replaced by a set of clamping rollers, the driving roller being made of steel and the other roller being loosely mounted and having a rubber-coated surface. It is preferred to use an adjustable clamp. It has been found that better results are obtained when the film is stretched when being separated, cut or torn, and therefore, a further set of discs similar to discs 26 can be inserted between cutters 32 and film storage discs 34. These additional discs are preferably driven at a speed 3 to 5% faster than discs 30 to apply tensile stresses to the film. Another method of splitting, cutting or shearing synthetic resin material is shown in Fig. 2. A film, tube or strip of oriented synthetic material is passed between plates 40 and 42 which are provided with a series of holes 44. These holes are arranged in rows, these rows are offset from one another. As the synthetic resin material passes between plates 40 and 42, needles 46 connected to plate 48 descend downward through openings 44, the needles preferably having a cross-sectional outline as shown in Fig. 3 and being arranged so that the longer dimension of their cross-section is aligned with the path along which the film advances. The needles can be raised and lowered at a speed determined by the effect desired in the finished product. Example: A 200-gauge tubular synthetic material is blown onto a Rototruder R 040-20 D extruder made of very dense polyethylene with a melt index of 0.3. The temperature in the extruder ranges from 149°C in the feed zone (zone 1), through 175°C in the middle zone (zone 2), and 200°C in the end zone, to 238°C at the nozzle head. The nozzle itself has a diameter of 75 mm, producing a flat layer 200 mm wide. The screw speed is 40 rpm, and the height of the tube flattening point above the floor is 270 cm. The flattening temperature is 81°C. The tube thus produced is cut to obtain two films of synthetic resin material, wound on discs. The material on each of these discs then passes through a first set of nipping discs (one rubber-coated steel disc as described above) rotating at 300 rpm, then under a contact plate heated to about 100°C, and through a second set of nipping discs similar to the first set and rotating at a speed 5 to 10 times greater than the speed of the first set, and then the film is cut by means of a slitter, as shown in Figure 2, the needles of which move sufficiently rapidly towards and back the film path. The slit film is then passed through a set of rollers rotating at a speed 3 to 5% faster than the speed of the second set of pressing rollers, and the fabric-like material thus produced is collected on the storage rollers.
