Abstract

Refuse is separated into a vegetable wet fraction and a lightweight solid fraction. The former is passed to a biogas plant for the production of methane. The latter is pressed to pellets or granules of 1-50 mm reduced to a dry substance content of at least 75% and pyrolysed in a heated low-temperature carbonisation drum. The gas produced is converted by a red hot bed to fuel gas.
