Abstract
Acid-soluble barium salts, e.g. BaCO3 are converted to insoluble barium sulphate, by reaction in the molten state with alkali metal sulphate in an equivalent amount. The reaction takes place at between 600 and 900 DEG C and may also involve the decomposition of toxic cyanide compounds. <IMAGE>
