Abstract

Cable splicing devices, particularly for suspended twin cables, consist of upper and lower sections (2,3) and two splicing sections (4) each containing two sets of cutting/clamping contacts (6,7). These cable splicing devices can be manufactured at low cost for electrically connecting two twin cables without separating the insulation and without requiring equal spacing between them. This is achieved by arranging the upper (2) and lower (3) sections each to contain a guide rail (13) that holds the cable (9) on the narrow side (19), and the guide rails (13) of the upper (2) and lower (3) contain a section (4) each containing cutting/clamping contacts (6,7) for embedding into the narrow (19) sides of the cable on the transverse inlet and outlet (9) and making electrical contact with the wires (11,12) (Figure 1).

Claims (6)

1. Cable fittings, especially for suspended twin cables, consist of an upper and lower section and two connecting sections with clamping/cutting contacts. Each section is two in number and is characterized by the upper and lower sections (2,2a or 3,3a, respectively) containing guide rails (13,13a) that hold the twin cable (9,9a) on the narrow side (19), and these guide rails (13,13a) of the upper and lower sections (2,2a or 3,3a, respectively) contain a connecting section (4,4a) with clamping/cutting contacts (6,6a,7,7a), which are oriented transversely on the narrow side (19) of the incoming and outgoing cable (9,9a) to make contact with the wires (11,12) for electrical connection. 2. The cable connection device under claim 1 is of a special nature in which the cutting/clamping devices (6,7) of the connection device (4) are connected by cross tubes (5) and are bent at approximately 45 degrees to each other to form a "Z" connection device (4). 3. The cable connection device under claim 1 or 2 has the special characteristic that the guide rail (13) is made in the shape of a "U" so that the paired cable (9) that is inserted into it will form a "U" shape. 4. The cable connector under claim 1 is of a special nature in which the two cutting/clamping contacts (6a,7a) of the connector (4a) are bent at a 45 degree angle from each other in such a way that the connector (4a) is formed into a "U" shape. 5. The cable-connecting devices under claim 1 are of a special nature in which the upper end of the cutting/clamping contacts (6,6a,7,7a) are provided with sharp edges (31) for cutting. 6. The cable-connecting device according to claim 4 is of a special nature in which the guide rail (13a) is provided with clamping edges (23) to reduce the stress on the cable (Clause 6, page 2, figure 5).
