Alfa,alfa-demetilfenil asetik asidin elde edilmesine mahsus bir yöntem tarif edilmekte olup, buna göre alfa,alfa-dimetilbenzil siyanür sodyum hidroksit'in, suyun, bir C4-alkolünün ve/veya C5-alkolünün mevcudiyetinde, 100 oC'nin üzerindeki isilarda reaksiyona sokulmakta ve alfa,alfa-dimetilfenil asetik asit, asitlendirilmek suretiyle elde edilmektedir.
