Abstract

This invention provides a liquid crystal orientation agent used for forming the liquid crystal orientation film. The said liquid crystal orientation film can give energy of liquid crystal orientation by irradiating from the polarized light or non-polarized light without rubbing. The liquid crystal orientation agent comprises polyamic acids consisted of tetracarboxylic acid dianhydrides of formula (I) and diamine, (R1, R2, R3, and R4 are independently hydrogen atom or organic group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms; wherein at least one of R1, R2, R3, and R4 is an organic group).
