Description

THOMAS c. HOWES.
imprvovem ent in Glue Pots.
No. 125,680, PatentedA priI16,I 872'.
Inventor:
THOMAS C. IIOWES, OF TROY, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN GLUE-POTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 125,680, dated April 16, 1872.
SPECIFICATION.
I, THOMAS C. HOW'ES, of Troy, in the county of Rensselaer and State of New York, have invented certain Improvements in the Ordinary Glue-Pot in use heretofore, of which the following is a specification:
Nature and Objects of the Invention.
The first part of myinvention consists in castin g or molding upon the side of the ordinary glue-receptacle, interior to the watenpot, a lip or flange, which will answer as a handle and also as a fulcrum for the hinge. The second part consists in constructing a cover with a wire attached, curved in an elliptical shape, so as to surround the lip or flange, and with the lip or flange constituting a hinge 5 and in at taching to the same cover a ring or thimble in which the brush may be kept when not in use, and to serve as a handle to the cover.
Figure 1 is a vertical section of the whole implement. Fig. 2 is the cover, showing also the brush. Fig. 3 shows the whole combined.
In Figure 1, A is the lip or flange; B, the
brush and c, the ring or thimble. The interior vessel is to contain the glue, and the exterior the water.
In Fig. 2, B is the brush; 0, the ring or thimble; E, the elliptical ring, to serve with the flange Ain Fig. 1 as a hinge; and D is the cover, shown in perspective.
From the drawing the construction is plain.
I am aware that glue-pots have been long constructed using two vessels or their equivalents, the outer one containing water and the inner the glue, and I only claim the improvements shown in the drawing.
I claim, then, as my invention- The construction of the inner vessel with a lip or flange attached to or connected therewith, and the combination of the ring E with the cover and such flange or lip, substantially as and for the purposes hereinbefore set forth.
THOS. G. HOWES.
