Definitions
- the driving shaft for the manipulation of the voltage insulation point can be led through the hollow insulator, constructed as a capacitor.
- the driving length may be further diminished, when the capacitances and the service switch contacts are mutually arranged in an inclined relationship and the disconnect switch contacts are installed therebetween.
- the capacitors it is also possible to use as a drive element the ohmic resistors provided for voltage regulation.
- the insulators serving as parallel resistances are rotatably secured to the shaft for use as driving shafts for the disconnect switch contacts.
- the motive power for the disconnect switch contacts can readily be effected by compressed air.
- the supply line of compressed air for the service switch contacts and the disconnect switch contacts in a common main, and to divide the air main in close proximity to said points.
- the feeding line becomes very short and passes, according to the invention, through the structural parts used for voltage regulation. Since the disconnect switch contacts may be manipulated only after complete disengagement of the service through the service switch contacts, the operation of the valve installed therefor must be delayed as compared with the operation of the valve for the service switch contacts. This delay must be suffi- 2,824,196 Patented Feb. 18, 1958 2 ciently great to open, the disconnect switch contacts during the application of the switch for the short disengagement (quick reclose) when the definite disengagement is completed.
- a further diminution of the over-all length can also bc a ta nc i thatth arc ng is an es of the disconnec switch contacts are made only large enough to stand a voltage just slightly higher than that corresponding to the no mal op rating vcl age- Thus, for example. if ther a e a ailab e. voltage. insula n p s, the volt- 38. - Fig. 1 shows a gas-blast circuit breaker with air-blastinterrnpter units 1 and six voltage disconnect switches 2 (see also Fig. 4).
- 3, designates a hollow control condenser, through which there is led a driving, shaft 4 by way of gear 5. to adisconnect switch 2.
- the driving shaft 4 is driven by way of a further shift gear 6 by a, drivi11g. shaft 7 which is actuated outside of the switch by compressed. air, driving motor or manually by acrank handle-
- the compressed air needed for the actuation of the air-blast interrupter unit 1 is taken, in known way, from a compressed: air tank 8 and supplied to the explosion chamber through a pin insulator 9.
- the airblast interrupter unit 1 and a capacitance 3 are disposed in mutual angular. position, so that the arrangement of the disconnect switch. 2 affects only slightly the over-all length of the switch.
- The. control resistances are designated at 10; in this example they are not connected with the motive power.
- a rotary insulator 3 which serves as condenserand thus becomes a part of the motive power. The same is rotated by the driving shaft 7 by way of a bell crank 6.
- the break jack of the disconnect switch 2 is. connected with. the control condenser 3 so that the break jack comes out when the control capacitance is rotated.
- Fig. 3 shows another example wherein the ohmic resistances 10 are used for the drive of the disconnect switch 2.
- the air-blast interrupter unit 1 is arranged horizontally in this case.
- the condenser 3 is positioned in parallel thereto, separated by a pin insulator 11. Both are connected together by way of the disconnect switch 2. This latter is actuated by means of a shift-gear 12 with the help of the ohmic resistance.
- Fig. 4 shows another arrangement wherein all the disconnect switches are driven by means of a common shaft 13; coupling rods 14 extend through hollow capacitors 3 to simultaneously operate all of the disconnect switches.
- Fig. 5 shows an arrangement wherein the supply line of the compressed air for the disconnect switches is common to compressed air supply for the air-blast interrupter units.
- the voltage insulation points are, in this case, actuated by compressed air.
- valves 14 and 15 In close proximity there are arranged valves 14 and 15.
- the valve 14 serves to control the actuation of the air-blast interrupter unit while valve 15 effects the actuation of the disconnect switch which is provided with a retarding device 16.
