  • the mixture is then permitted to cool to 145*F, and 24 lbs. of the potato starch, initially at room temperature, were added. The mixture was then permitted to cool while mixing and homogenizing, and it thickened. After the temperature of the resulting mixture dropped below 120°F, the remaining starch and the veegum which were initially at room temperature, were added and the entire mixture was then stirred in order to attain complete homogenization. This latter step can take place at a temperature between 120 ⁇ F and room temperature, although a temperature close to 120°F facilitates the homogenization.

Abstract

Une composition de poudre liquide comprend pour 400 livres de composition 40 à 150 livres d'amidon de pomme de terre, 1 à 12 livres de veegum, 3,6 à 12 livres d'alcool cétylique, 2 à 10 livres d'acide stéarique, 3 à 10 livres de glycérine, 0,5 livre d'oléate de Peg-8 et le reste en eau. Cette composition de poudre liquide peut être utilisée comme support, pour les prothèses et l'orthoptie et en général comme lubrifiant humide exempt d'huile qui ne laisse aucun résidu en excès comme le font les poudres de talc et les lubrifiants à base d'huile. Cette composition est préparée par un procédé consistant dans l'ordre suivant à ajouter ensemble le veegum, l'alcool cétylique, l'alcool stéarique, la glycérine et l'oléate de Peg-8 et à élever la température tout d'abord à 145°F et puis à 175°F; à ajouter les ingrédients chauffés à l'eau préchauffée entre 130 et 200°F, à mélanger les ingrédients et l'eau tout en laissant refroidir à une température de 145°F-150°F, à y ajouter 10 à 50 livres d'amidon de pomme de terre, à homogénéiser le mélange tout en laissant refroidir à une température inférieure à 135°F, à y ajouter 30 à 100 livres d'amidon de pomme de terre tout en laissant refroidir à la température ambiante, puis à homogénéiser le mélange pour obtenir la poudre liquide sous forme d'une lotion, d'un gel ou d'une crème. La composition de poudre liquide peut en outre comporter un principe actif et/ou un parfum.
