- Such a construction provides a solution which, in comparison to known solutions, reduces the costs and at the same time increases the reliability, which primarily is due to the fact that the construction according to the invention eliminates the need for a movable element in comparison to the known solution which is evident from the closest state of the art, see DE-A-34 25 189.
- a further object of the invention is to shape certain parts in such a way that they are able to be combined with ignition locks of differing constructions. In this way one should preferably be able to use the same sliding body, wire and associated connections for example on both the Volvo 940 and the Volvo 960 even though__the ignition locks in both these car types have large differences.

Further it is clear that the sliding body has a rectangular cross- section. The figure shows a situation in which the sliding body is in a position which corresponds to switching-off the ignition.

- the gear change selector is thus in the park position and the sliding body 2 is displaced inwardly into the housing 7 and bears against the cylinder block 6.

- the wire 3 can be replaced by a chain, or similar flexible force-transmitting element or, by a specially chosen placing of the ignition lock, by a rod.
- cross-sectional shapes of the sliding body other than circular and rectangular can be used.
- Other modifications which are encompassed by the scope of the invention are for example that instead of an integrated cam element one can have a rotatably-fixed disc or the like on the lock cylinder.
