本発明 は 、 変性ポ リ テ ト ラ フ ル ォ ロ エ チ レ ン 粒状粉末 の製法 に 関す る 。
さ ら に詳 し く は、 乳化剤が実質的 に存在 し な い 条件下 に お け る 懸濁重合法 に よ り え ら れ る 成形用 粉末 と し て の パ ー フ ル ォ ロ ビ ニ ノレ エ ー テ ル変性 ポ リ テ ト ラ フ ル ォ ロ ェ チ レ ン の粉末を造粒す る 変性 ポ リ テ ト ラ フ ルォ ロ ェ チ レ ン 粒状粉末の 製法 に 関す る 。 背景技術
従来、 ポ リ テ ト ラ フ ル ォ ロ エ チ レ ン ( P T F E ) 粉末 を造粒 し て粒状粉末を う る 製法 と し て は多数の提案が な さ れて お り 、 た と え ば特公昭 4 4 一 2 2 6 1 9 号公報 に P T F E 粉末を 沸点が 3 0 〜 1 5 0 °Cの水不溶性有機液 体を含む 3 0 〜 1 5 0 °Cの 水性媒体中で撹拌造粒す る 方 法が記載 さ れて い る 。
ま た、 特公昭 5 7 - 1 5 1 2 8 号公報 に 、 前記公報記 載の方法を 改良す る 目 的で P T F E 粉末 に対す る 解砕機 構を備え た 装置を用 い る 方法が記載 さ れて い る 。
ま た、 水 の み を使用 し て造粒す る 方法 と し て は 、 た と え ば特公昭 4 3 - 8 6 1 1 号公報 に P T F E 粉末を 4 0 〜 9 0 °Cの 水 中で撹拌造粒す る 方法が、 特公 昭 4 7 - 3 1 8 7 号公報 に P T F E 粉末を 4 0 C以上 の 水性媒体中 で撹拌造粒す る 方法が、 さ ら に 特開平 3 — 2 5 9 9 2 6 T/ 96/02256
号公報に P T F Ε 粉末を水性媒体 中で解砕機構を併用 し て撹拌造粒す る 方法が記載 さ れて い る 。
前記公報 に記載 さ れて い る い ずれの方法 も 、 平均粒径
1 0 0 未満の い わ ゆ る P T F E の微粉砕粉末を用 い て い る 方法で あ る 。 微粉砕粉末を 用 い る の は、 粗粉砕粉 末を用 い る と え ら れ る 成形品の た と え ば引 張強度な どの 成形品物性が劣 る か ら で あ る 。
と こ ろ で 、 P T F E 粉末 は平均粒径 l O O ^ m程度 ま で は粗粉碎機 に よ り 粉砕す る こ と が可能で あ る が、 平均 粒径 1 0 0 m未満 に ま で粉砕 し ょ う と す れ ば、 別工程 と し て微粉砕機が必要 と な る 。
し か し、 微粉砕機 は高価であ り 、 大型の た め に 消費電 力が多 く 、 さ ら に微粉砕機 に P T F E 粉末を送 る た め の 空送設備、 空送 ラ イ ン な どの付帯設備、 え ら れた微粉砕 粉末 を 捕集 す る た め の バ グ フ ィ ル タ ー な ど が必 要 と な る o
以上の こ と か ら 、 P T F E粉末 と し て平均粒径 1 0 0 /z m以上の 粗粉砕粉末 を用 い て造粒 し 、 成形品物性の よ い P T F E 粒状粉末が え ら れ る こ と が強 く 要望 さ れて い 粗粉砕粉末を用 い る 方法 と し て は、 た と え ば特開平 3 一 2 5 9 9 2 5 号公報 に、 4 2 0 / mの P T F E 粉末を 6 0 〜 1 0 0 °Cの 水性媒体中で解砕機構を併用 し て撹拌 造粒す る 方法が記載 さ れて い る 程度で あ る 。
こ の公報 に記載 さ れて い る 方法 に よ っ て も 、 え ら れ る P T F E 粒状粉末 は 引 張強度な ど の 成形品物性を充分 に 満足 さ せ う る も の で は な く 、 製品化す る に は た と え ばゲ ル化 し て粉砕す る と い つ た後工程が必要 に な る 。 ま た粒 状粉末を成形 し てえ ら れ る 成形品 の 絶縁破壊電圧 も 低い の で、 そ れが要求 さ れ る よ う な 用 途 に は用 い ら れな い。 さ ら に前記 し た よ う に こ の方法で は解砕機構が必要であ る o
本発明者 ら は 、 テ ト ラ フ ノレォ ロ エ チ レ ン ホ モ ポ リ マ ー の微粉砕粉末を用 い て い た従来の P T F E 粒状粉末の製 法を 種々 の 角 度か ら 検討 し た結果、 変性 P T F E 、 そ の う ち で も パ一 フ ルォ ロ ビニ ル エ ー テ ル変性 P T F E を用 い る こ と に よ り 、 粗粉砕粉末の流動性す な わ ち取扱 い性 お よ び見か け密度 に 優れ た造粒方法が可能 に な り 、 ま た 水の み を 用 い る 造粒方法が可能 に な り 、 さ ら に粒状粉末 を成形 し て え ら れ る 成形品の絶縁破壊電圧 に も 優れて い る 変性 P T F E 粒状粉末を う る こ と がで き る こ と を見出 し た。
本発明 の 目 的 は、 微粉砕粉末を 用 い る こ と な く 、 粉末 の取扱い性す な わ ち 流動性お よ び見か け密度 に優れ、 し か も 成形品物性 に優れ た変性 P T F E 粒状粉末の 製法を 提供す る こ と に め る 。
本発明 の 別 の 目 的 は、 有機液体を用 い る こ と な く 、 水 の み で造粒す る 方法を提供す る こ と に あ る 。
本発明 の さ ら に別 の 目 的 は、 粗粉砕粉末を 用 い て も 未 変性 P T F E の 微粉砕粉末を用 い た ばあ い と 同程度の 絶 縁破壊電圧 を 有す る 成形品 を与え る 変性 P T F E 粒状粉 末の 製法を 提供す る こ と に あ る 。 発明 の 開示

T F E の 重合割合を前記範囲内 の 割合 と す る こ と に よ り 、 優れた 引 張強度、 伸 び、 耐 ク ラ ッ ク 性 と い う 効果が え ら れ、 ま た式 ( I ) で示 さ れ る 化合物の 重合割合を前 記範囲内 の 割合 と す る こ と に よ り 、 優れ た耐 ク リ ー プ性 と い う 効果力 え ら れ る 。
前記式 ( I ) に お い て、 R f は炭素数 1 〜 1 0 のパ — フ ル ォ ロ ア ノレ キ ル基、 炭素数 4 〜 9 の パ ー フ ル ォ ロ ( ァ ル コ キ シ ア ル キ ル) 基、 前記式 ( 11 ) で示 さ れ る 有機基 ま た は前記式 ( III) で示 さ れ る 有機基 を表わす。 前記パ ー フ ルォ ロ ア ルキ ル基の 炭素数 は 1 1 0 、 好 ま し く は 1 5 であ り 、 炭素数を こ の 範囲 内 の数 と す る こ と に よ り 溶融成形不可 と い う 性質を保持 し た ま ま 優れ た耐 ク リ ー プ性 と い う 効果がえ ら れ る 。
前記パ ー フ ルォ ロ ア ルキ ル基 と し て は、 た と え ばパ ー フ ノレ オ ロ メ チ ノレ 、 フ ソレ オ ロ ェ チ ノレ 、 パ ー フ ル ォ ロ プ 口 ピ ル 、 ー フ ノレ オ ロ ブ チ ノレ 、 フ ノレ オ 口 ペ ン チ ル 、 、。 一 フ ルォ 口 へ キ シ ル な ど力 あ げ ら れ る が、 耐 ク リ ー プ 性お よ びモ ノ マ ー コ ス ト の 点か ら パ ー フ ノレオ 口 プ ロ ピル が好 ま し い 。
本発明 に お い て は、 前記パ ー フ ル ォ ロ ビ ニ ルエ ー テ ル 変性 P T F E の粉末を、 た と え ば水 の存在下 ま た は乾燥 状態で、 ハ ン マ ー ' ミ ル、 羽根つ き の 回転子 を も っ た粉 砕機、 気流エ ネ ルギ ー 型粉砕機、 衝撃粉砕機 な ど の粉砕 機 に よ り 粗粉砕 し て え ら れ る 平均粒径 1 0 0 3 0 0 // m の一次粒子が用 い ら れ る 。
こ の 一次粒子の平均粒径を前記範囲内 の 粒径 と す る こ と に よ り 、 粉末の優れ た取扱 い 性す な わ ち 優れ た 流動性 お よ び見か け 密度、 さ ら に、 え ら れ る 成形品 に つ い て は 優れた物性、 と く に 一次粒子の平均粒径を 1 0 0 1 5 0 / m と す る こ と に よ り 、 え ら れ る 成形品 に つ い て優れ た絶縁破壊電圧 と い う 効果がえ ら れ る 。
本発明 に お い て用 い る 水性媒体 と し て は、 通常、 水が 用 い ら れ る 。 こ の 水 は 、 必ず し も 高 い純度 に 精製 さ れ た も の で あ る 必要 は な い が、 無機質 ま た は有機質の 不純物 が混入 し て い る も の を使用 す る と 、 こ の不純物がえ ら れ た変性 P T F E 粒状粉末中 に残存 し 、 結果 と し て成形品 に好 ま し く な い着色を 起 し 、 かつ 絶縁破壊電圧 を 低下せ し め る 原因 と な る 。 し たが っ て、 こ の よ う な 原因 と な る 不純物は水性媒体か ら あ ら か じ め 除去 し て お く 必要があ る o
こ の水性媒体 は、 パ ー フ ノレ オ 口 ビ ニ ル エ ー テ ル変性 p
T F E の粉末 に対 し 1 5 0 〜 5 0 0 0 % (重量%、 以下 同様) の 範囲で用 い 、 該粉末を添加 し て撹拌造粒 に供せ ら れ る 。 水性媒体の 使用量 と し て は、 パ ー フ ルォ ロ ビニ ル ェ 一 テ ル変性 P T F E の粉末を 含む水性媒体 に 流動性 を与え る に 足 る だ け の 量で あ れば充分で あ っ て、 そ れ よ り も 多量 に 加え る こ と は経済的 に 不利であ り 、 逆 に不足 す る と 造粒の 操作を ス ム ー ズ に行え な い。 し か し 、 前記 パ 一 フ ノレォ ロ ビ 二 ノレエ ー テ ル変性 P T F E を含む水性媒 体が完全 に 流動性を有す る 状態で あ れば、 水性媒体の 多 少 の 増減 は 問題で は な い o

(以下、 水 中造粒法 と も い う ) 、 有機液体の 不存在下に
5 0 〜 1 6 0 °C の 水性媒体中で撹拌す る こ と に よ っ て造 粒す る 温水造粒法な どがあ げ ら れ る が、 高価な有機液体 を 用 い る 必要 が な い な ど の 点 か ら 温水造粒法が 好 ま し い o
本発明 に お い て用 い る 前記有機液体 と し て は、 た と え ば 2 5 °c に お け る 表面張力が約 4 0 d . y n e / c m以下 の 水 不溶性の 有機液体で あ れば よ く 、 そ の 具体例 と し て は、 ぺ ン タ ン 、 ド デ カ ン な ど の脂肪族炭化水素、 ベ ン ゼ ン 、 卜 ルェ ン 、 キ シ レ ン な ど の芳香族炭化水素、 テ ト ラ ク ロ 口 エ チ レ ン 、 ト リ ク ロ ロ エ チ レ ン 、 ク ロ ロ ホ レ ム 、 ク ロ 口 ベ ン ゼ ン 、 ト リ ク ロ 口 ト リ フ ルォ ロ ェ タ ン 、 モ ノ フ ルォ ロ ト リ ク ロ ロ メ タ ン 、 ジ フ ル ォ ロ テ ト ラ ク ロ ロ ェ タ ン な どの ハ ロ ゲ ン 化炭化水素な ど を用 い る こ と がで き る 。 こ れ ら の う ち ハ ロ ゲ ン 化炭化水素が好 ま し く 、 と く に 1 , 1 , 1 一 ト リ ク ロ ロ ェ タ ン 、 1 , 1 — ジ ク ロ ロ ー 2 , 2 , 3 , 3 , 3 —ペ ン タ フ ル ォ ロ プ ロ パ ン 、 1 , 3 ー ジ ク ロ ロ ー 1 , 1 , 2 , 2 , 3 —ペ ン タ フ ノレ ォ ロ プ ロ パ ン 、 1 , 1 — ジ ク ロ ロ ー 2 , 2 , 2 — ト リ フ ル ォ ロ ェ タ ン 、 1 , 1 ー ジ ク ロ 口 一 1 ー フ ノレ ォ ロ ェ タ ン な ど の塩 化炭化水素 や フ ッ 化塩化炭化水素 が好 ま し い 。 な ぜ な ら 、 こ れ ら の有機液体 は不燃性で あ り 、 かつ フ ロ ン 規制 の要求な ど を 満足す る か ら で あ る 。 こ れ ら の 有機液体 は 単独で用 い て も よ く 、 2 種以上を組み 合わ せ て用 い て も よ い。
前記有機液体の添加量 は、 造粒 さ れた粒状粉末 の平均 粒径お よ び見か け密度 の点か ら 、 前記水性媒体 に 対 し て 5 〜 1 0 0 %で あ り 、 1 0 〜 2 0 %で あ る こ と が好ま し い o
本発明 に お い て、 有機液体の 不存在下 に 水性媒体中で パ ー フ ル ォ ロ ビ ニ ル エ ー テ ル変性 P T F E の 粉末を撹拌 す る こ と に よ っ て造粒す る 温水造粒法の ば あ い、 見か け 密度の点か ら 該撹拌を 5 0 〜 1 6 0 °C、 好 ま し く は 5 0 〜 1 2 0 °C、 さ ら に好 ま し く は 9 0 〜 1 2 0 °Cの 範囲 内 の 温度で行 え ば よ い 。
こ こ で 、 温度条件 は き わ め て重要で あ り 、 前記 ス ラ リ 一 の温度を こ の よ う な 範囲 内 の 温度 に維持す る こ と に よ つ て容易 に 希望す る 粒径を有 し 、 見か け密度が大 き く 、 粉末流動性 に優れ、 均一な 粒度で緻密な電気的特性に優 れた変性 P T F E 粒状粉末を う る こ と がで き る 。
本発明 の 製法 に用 い る こ と の で き る 装置 と し て は、 通 常の撹拌機構を備え た装置で あ れ ば よ く 、 た と え ば特開 平 3 — 2 5 9 9 2 6 号公報 に記載 さ れて い る よ う な装置 を用 い る こ と がで き る 。 本発明 に お い て は、 解砕機構を 備 え た装置 を と く に必要 と す る も の で は な い。
な お本発明 の製法 に お い て は、 P T F E 粉末の 他 に、 乳化重合法 に よ り え ら れ る 平均粒径が 0 . 0 5 〜 0 . 5 μ mで 、 固形分濃度が 1 0 〜 6 0 %の P T F E 水性デ ィ ス ノ、 ° — ジ ョ ン を使用 す る こ と がで き る 。 こ の P T F E デ ィ ス パ ー ジ ョ ン を用 い る こ と に よ り 、 造粒の 際のノ、0— フ ル ォ 口 ビニ ル エ ー テ ル変性 ポ リ テ ト ラ フ ルォ ロ ェ チ レ ン粉 末の 微粉の 発生を 防止す る こ と がで き る 。
P T F E 水性デ ィ ス ノ、°一 ジ ョ ン に お い て は、 デ イ ス パ — ジ ョ ン 中 の P T F E が前記微粉 を覆 う こ と に よ り 該微 粉を消失 さ せ る た め、 粉末物性の 低下 は な く 粉末の取扱 い性す な わ ち 流動性が向上す る 。
P T F E 水性デ ィ ス ノ、° ー ジ ョ ン の 使用量 は、 パ ー フ ル ォ ロ ビニ ノレエ ー テ ル変性 ポ リ テ ト ラ フ ルォ ロ エ チ レ ン 粉 末 に対 し 0 . 1 〜 1 0 重量 % 、 よ り 好 ま し く は 1 〜 3 重 量% であ る 。 ま た そ の 添加時期 は 、 パ ー フ ルォ ロ ビニ ル エ ー テ ル変性 ポ リ テ ト ラ フ ノレォ ロ エ チ レ ン 粉末を水 に投 入す る 前が適当 で あ る 。

流動性 : 特 開平 3 — 2 5 9 9 2 5 号公報記載 の方法 に準 じ て測定 し た。

流動性の 測定 は被測定粉末約 2 0 0 g を 2 3 . 5 〜 2 4 . 5 °C に 調温 し た室内 に 4 時 間以上放 置 し 、 1 0 メ ッ シ ュ ( 目 の 開 き 1 6 8 0 ミ ク ロ ン ) でふ る っ た の ち 、 同 温度で行 な わ れ る 。
( I ) ま ず、 容量 3 0 c c の コ ッ プ に丁度 1 ぱ い の 被 測定粉末を 上部 ホ ッ パ ー ( 3 1 ) へ入れた の ち 、 た だ ち に 仕切 板 ( 3 5 ) を 引 抜 い て 粉末 を 下部 ホ ッ パ ー へ 落 す。 落 ち な い と き は 針金でつ つ い て落す。 粉末が下部ホ ッ パ ー ( 3 2 ) に完全 に落 ち て か ら 1 5 ± 2 秒間放置 し た の ち 下部 ホ ッ パ ー の 仕切板 ( 3 8 ) を 引 抜 い て粉末が 出 口 ( 3 7 ) か ら 流れ落 ち る か ど う かを観察 し 、 こ の と き 8 秒以内 に 全部流れ落 ち た ば あ い を落 ち た も の と 判定 す る 。 ( I I ) 以上 と 同 じ 測定を 3 回 く り 返 し て落 ち る か ど う かを み、 3 回の う ち 2 回以上流れ落 ち た ば あ い は流動性
「良」 と 評価 し 、 1 回 も 落 ち な い ば あ い は 流動 性 「 不 良」 と 評価す る 。 3 回 の う ち 1 回 だ け流れ落 ち た ばあ い は、 さ ら に 2 回同 じ 測定を行な い 、 そ の 2 回 と も 落 ち た ばあ い は結局 そ の粉末の流動性 は 「良」 と 評価 し 、 そ れ 以上の ばあ い は流動性 「不良」 と 評価す る 。
( I I I ) 以上の 測定で流動 性 「良」 と 評 価 さ れ た 粉末 に つ い て は 、 容量 3 0 c c の コ ッ プ 2 は い の 粉末を上部 ホ ッ パ ー へ入れて前記 と 同様に し て測定を 行 な う 。 そ の 結果、 流動性 「良」 と 評価 さ れ た と き は順次粉末の は い 数を増加 し て ゆ き 、 「不良」 と な る ま で、 最高 8 は い に 達す る ま で測定す る 。 各測定の 際 に は、 前回 の 測定で下 部ホ ッ パ ー か ら 流出 し た粉末を再使用 し て も よ い。
( I V ) 以上の 測定で P T F E 粉末 は使用 量が多 い ほ ど 流れ落 ち に く く な る 。
そ こ で流動性 「不良」 と な っ た と き の は い 数か ら 1 を 引 い た数を そ の粉末の 「流動性」 と 定め る 。

図 1 か ら 明 ら かな よ う に 、 温水造粒パ ウ ダ 一 は従来法 の 水中造粒パ ウ ダー と 同程度の 見か け密度 を う る こ と が で き る 。

図 6 か ら 明 ら かな よ う に、 温水造粒パ ウ ダ 一 は 従来法 の 水 中 造粒パ ウ ダ ー と 同程度 の 伸 び を う る こ と が で き る o 産業上の利用可能性 以上の結果か ら 明 ら かな よ う に 、 本発明 の 各製法 に お い て は、 つ ぎの よ う な 効果がえ ら れ る 。
ま ず、 懸濁重合法 に よ り え ら れ る パ ー フ ル ォ ロ ビニ ル エ ー テ ル変性 P T F E の平均粒径 1 0 0 〜 3 0 0 / mの 粉末を水性媒体中で撹拌す る こ と に よ つ て造粒す る 製法 で は、 微粉砕粉末を用 い る こ と な く 、 粉末の 取扱 い性す な わ ち 流動性お よ び見か け密度 に 優れ、 成形品物性 に優 れた変性 P T F E 粒状粉末がえ ら れ る 。
ま た、 0 〜 5 k g Z c m 2 G の 圧 力 下有機液体 の 不存 在下 に、 温度 5 0 〜 1 6 0 の 水性媒体中で撹拌 し て造 粒を行な う こ と に よ り 、 高価な有機液体を用 い る こ と な く 前記 と 同様の 変性 P T F E 粒状粉末がえ ら れ る 。
ま た、 0 〜 5 k g Z c m 2 G の 圧 力 下有機液体 の 存在 下 に、 温度 1 0 〜 1 2 0 °Cの水性媒体中で撹拌 し て造粒 を行な う こ と に よ り 、 前記 と 同様の変性 P T F E 粒状粉 末力、' i ら れ る 。
ま た、 前記懸濁重合法 に よ り え ら れ る パ ー フ ルォ ロ ビ ニ ル エ ー テ ル変性 P T F E 粉末の 平均粒径を 1 0 0 〜 1 5 0 μ πι と す る こ と に よ り 、 粒状粉末を成形 し て え ら れ る 成形品 の 絶縁破壊電圧が 3 . 5 k V以上 に な る 。

Claims

請 求 の 範 囲
1. 懸濁重合法 に よ り え ら れ る パ ー フ ルォ ロ ビニ ルエ ー テ ル変性 ポ リ テ ト ラ フ ルォ ロ エ チ レ ン の 平均粒径 1 0 0 〜 3 0 0 u mの粉末を水性媒体 中で撹拌す る こ と に よ っ て造粒す る 変性 ポ リ テ ト ラ フ ルォ ロ エ チ レ ン粒状 粉末の製法。
2. 前記造粒を 0 〜 5 k g Z c m 2G の 圧 力 下 有 機 液体 の不存在下 に、 温度 5 0 〜 1 6 0 °Cの 水性媒体中で行 う 請求の 範囲第 1 項記載の変性 ポ リ テ ト ラ フ ルォ ロ ェ チ レ ン粒状粉末の製法。
3. 前記造粒を 0 〜 5 k g Z c m 2G の 圧 力 下 有 機 液体 の存在下 に、 温度 1 0 〜 1 2 0 て の 水性媒体 中で行 う 請求の範囲第 1 項記載の変性 ポ リ テ ト ラ フ ルォ ロ ェ チ レ ン粒状粉末の製法。
4. 懸濁重合法に よ り え ら れ る パ ー フ ルォ ロ ビニ ルエ ー テ ル変性 ポ リ テ ト ラ フ ルォ ロ エ チ レ ン粉末の 平均粒径 が 1 0 0 〜 1 5 0 /i mで あ り 、 撹拌す る こ と に よ っ て 造粒 し て え ら れ る 粒状粉末を成形 し てえ ら れ る 成形品 の絶縁破壊電圧が 3 . 5 k V以上で あ る 請求の 範囲第 1 〜 3 項の い ずれか に 記載の変性 ポ リ テ ト ラ フ ノレォ ロ エ チ レ ン 粒状粉末の 製法。
5. 変性 ポ リ テ ト ラ フ ル ォ ロ エ チ レ ン が、 テ ト ラ フ ルォ 口 エ チ レ ン 9 9 . 0 〜 9 9 . 9 9 9 モ ノレ % と 式 ( I ) :
