- the present invention relates to an improved shock absorbing plate material, and more particularly, to an improved shock absorbing plate material which can recycle waste paper and have a series of wavelike configuration having a plurality of rib portions therein to absorb an external shock applied thereto, so that it can be widely used as a shock absorber such as sheets of paper in a packing box or a shock absorbing plate material or paper in various fields that a shock absorbing function should be exhibited.
- a shock absorbing plate material is comprised of liner paper which is attached on the both sides of approximate ⁇ shape of corrugated paper, respectively, thus to have a function of absorbing an external shock.
- Such the shock absorbing plate material has been widely used as a shock absorber such as sheets of paper in a packing box and a shock absorbing material in various kinds of industry fields.
- a conventional corrugated cardboard constituting a packing box includes the liner paper attached on the both sides of the corrugated paper, respectively, there occurs a problem in that in use the attached portion of the liner paper may be separated from the corrugated paper. Furthermore, to manufacture a desired thickness of plate material, since the corrugated paper as well as the liner paper are one by one attached to each other in a multiple layer structure, there occurs a problem in that a troublesome working process should be required, which results in decrement of an amount of production of the plate material. Moreover, if the corrugated paper has a predetermined thickness or more, there is a difficulty in molding the corrugated paper into a desired shape. This also results in limitation of the increment of thickness of the corrugated paper.

- the manufacturing process of the prior art is hard to apply for the mass production.
- the main difficulty for making the production is related to the formation of hollow parts inside the shock absorbing plate material.
- the high deformation rate and the low production efficiency due to the difficult process in separating the hollow pins from the cavity parts inside of absorbing material deteriorate the industrial applications of the prior art.
- An object of the present invention is to provide an improved shock absorbing plate material which can recycle waste paper and have a series of wavelike configuration having a plurality of rib portions along the transverse direction of the wavelike faces therein, to thereby provide an excellent shock-absorbing characteristic due to the feature of the quality of the wood pulp, so that it can be widely used as sheets of paper in a packing box or a shock absorbing plate material or paper in various fields.
- an improved shock absorbing plate material including : the plate material made by pouring waste paper such as wood pulp into water, mixing the waste paper and the water until they are in a pulpified state, molding the mixture into a plate shape and being subject to a dewatering treatment ; and a series of wavelike configuration having a plurality of rib portions formed along the transverse direction of the wavelike configuration 1 1 , to provide a shock absorbing characteristic.

Next, the mixture is inserted into a predetermined mold and pressurized to mold the mixture into the plate shape of plate material 10 having the series of wavelike configuration 1 1 and a plurality of rib portions 12 formed along the transverse direction of wavelike configuration 1 1 thereof. Finally, the plate materials 1 1 , 12 are subject to a dewatering treatment and then dried.

Accordingly, the plate materials 1 1 , 12 can be mould into a desired shape (for example, a wavelike plate shape), by the organic bonding force between the fibrous materials of the wood pulp, without an additional adhesive.
- the plate materials 1 1 and 12 as shown in Figs. 2 to 8, which are in various shapes and have the series of wavelike configuration 1 1 having the plurality of rib portions 1 2 thereof, can be produced.

- the variation in the height of rib portions 12 comparing with the height of wavelike configuration 1 1 can provides various shock absorbing performance to the plate material.

- the rib portions 12 as a supporting means also can be fabricated having a semi-cylindrical formation 13 below the half areas of wavelike configuration 12 as shown on the Fig. 6 and Fig. 7.
- the shock absorbing material also can be formed without the rib portions in a simple way.
- the wave shape in a series form provides a stable structure for distributing and absorbing the external impact on the plate. Furthermore, the plurality of rib portions shaped transversely across the wavelike configuration play an important role for providing the coherent and the resilient force which are required for sustaining the original wavelike shape while in the external shock or impact on the plate. Having a simple and stable mechanical structure, the present invention is widely used for the sheets of paper of the packing box and in various kinds of industrial fields in which a shock absorbing performance is regarded as of great importance.

- the fragment or the arbitrary shape is disposed within the interior of the packing box and is used as the shock absorbing members and such as existing Styrofoam for protecting the packed goods from the external shock.
- shock absorbing members 1 1 and 12 are not limited only in such the shapes as shown in Fig. 2 to Fig. 8, but may be mould into various shapes in accordance with the external shape of the goods to be packed.
- the rib portions 12 may take different shapes and be disposed in various arrangement manners.
- an improved shock absorbing plate material constructed according to the preferred embodiments of the present invention can recycle waste paper, mix the waste paper and water in a pulpified state and mold the mixture into a predetermined shape of plate material having a series of wavelike configuration and rib portions formed along the transverse direction of wavelike configuration thereof, so that it can be widely used as the sheets of paper of the packing box and as the cardboard or the plate material in various kinds of industrial fields in which a shock absorbing performance is regarded as of great importance.
- the an improved shock absorbing plate material of the present invention can be effectively used as a shock absorbing member substituted for the existing Styrofoam, which is inserted into the packing box together with the packed goods.
- the an improved shock absorbing plate material of the present invention has the following advantages: 1 ) the waste paper is recycled, 2) if the finished shock absorbing plate material is worn, it can be recycled, 3) such the recycle can prevent the generation of environmental pollution, and 4) application possibility in the wide range of industrial fields.
