- Expression of human telomerase RNA (hTR) or RNA telomerase reverse transcriptase enzyme (hTERT) or associated protein (TEP 1) has been determined during the progression of several tumor species , which made it possible to establish a correlation between this expression (the quantity of RNA) and the activity of telomerase. Most cancers and immortalized cell lines have strong telomerase activity, reflecting a mechanism that escapes normal aging regulations.

- Blood samples (2-3 ml) were taken preoperatively from 18 patients with small breast cancer tumors (T1 or T2) still differentiated (G1 or G2) and in principle without cancer nodules or metastases. The samples were then centrifuged at 900 g for 15 minutes at room temperature and the serum collected. A second centrifugation at 900g for 15 min. was done to get rid of all debris.
