Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a fuel cell system that generates power using a fuel cell, an operation method thereof, and the like.
  • Fig. 16 is a block diagram of a conventional polymer electrolyte fuel cell system, in which a polymer water fuel cell 1 is cooled by a cooling water pump 4 through a cooling water passage 3 from a cooling water tank 2. Pure water cooling water is supplied, and the pure water cooling water that has passed through the fuel cell 1 forms a cooling water circulation system that is cooled by a heat exchanger 5 such as a radiator and then returns to the cooling water tank 2.
  • a heat exchanger 5 such as a radiator
  • the conductive ions dissolve into the pure water cooling water from the heat exchanger 5 that cools the cooling water, and when the conductive ions increase, there is a problem that the amount of power generation is reduced by short-circuiting within the fuel cell 1. Therefore, it is necessary to remove conductive ions from the cooling water. Therefore, on the way to the cooling water channel 3, ion removal using an ion-exchange resin to remove the conductive ions dissolved from the heat exchanger 5 Filter 6 is provided.
  • the fuel cell 1 is cooled under high load operation. If a large amount of water is required, the pressure of the cooling water at the ion removal filter 6 As the loss increases, the pressure loss Providing a bypass 7 for reduction, and aggressive use of the ion removal filter 6 when low-load operation uses a small amount of cooling water that does not affect the pressure loss of the ion removal filter 6.
  • a flow control valve 8 that allows pure water cooling water to pass through is provided on the bypass 7.
  • the amount of water in the cooling water tank decreases as it continues to circulate, so it is necessary to replenish the water from outside, such as water introduced from outside such as tap water, system water, etc. There is recovered water from inside.
  • the water recovered from inside the system is generated by the reaction between hydrogen (H 2 ) and oxygen (O 2 ) during power generation inside the fuel cell, so that high-purity water can be obtained in principle.
  • H 2 hydrogen
  • O 2 oxygen
  • contact with air may dissolve carbon dioxide and form carbon dioxide, which may increase conductivity. Therefore, even when the recovered water is used as cooling water for hydrogen generators and fuel cells, it is necessary to purify it using ion exchange resin.
  • Polymer electrolyte fuel cell systems usually circulate 70-80 ° C cooling water. And drive. Since the cooling water channel 3 of the polymer electrolyte fuel cell system shown in Fig. 16 above has a closed configuration, when the system is operated, the cooling water temperature changes from room temperature cooling water before operation to high temperature cooling water during power generation. Accordingly, the pressure inside the cooling water tank 2 and the water pressure in the cooling water passage 3 increase accordingly. When the system operation is stopped, the temperature of the cooling water changes from high-temperature cooling water during power generation to normal-temperature cooling water after the operation ends, and the pressure inside the cooling water tank 2 and the water pressure in the cooling water passage 3 decrease accordingly. Therefore, the first problem is that the structure of the cooling water tank 2 and the cooling water passage 3 needs to be able to withstand the pressure fluctuation due to the temperature change.
  • the ion removal filter 6 since the ion removal filter 6 is located in the cooling water passage 3, the flow amount of the cooling water increases, so that the amount of cooling water passing through the ion removal filter 6 increases, and as a result, the pressure loss in the cooling water passage 3 increases.
  • the bypass path 7 and the flow control valve 8 are used to avoid this, but there is a second problem that the cost increases due to an increase in the number of parts.
  • There is a solution to this problem by increasing the capacity of the cooling water pump 4, but this also increases the power consumption of the auxiliary equipment that operates the system as the cost increases, and this also reduces the overall efficiency of the system. , it can not be said to be sufficient solution c the ion-exchange resin (in particular, anion exchange resin) is durable temperature is relatively low.

  • Reverse osmosis membranes are micro-perforated membranes where most impurities cannot penetrate them and water molecules permeate, so high purity water seeps out the other side of the membrane. Impurities that cannot be permeated are always discharged as concentrated water. The higher the pressure of supplied water and the higher the temperature, the more water can be purified. However, since a large amount of concentrated water is discarded, the running cost of the discharged water increases. In addition, there was a fourth problem in that another configuration was required to eliminate waste water, such as providing a flow path for returning waste water to raw water and purifying the waste water again. Disclosure of the invention
  • the present invention has been made in consideration of the first to third problems of the above-mentioned conventional polymer electrolyte fuel cell system, and has a low cost and a simple structure, and has a long length of ion exchange resin used for maintaining the quality of cooling water. It is an object of the present invention to provide a high-efficiency polymer electrolyte fuel cell system having a long life and a method of operating the same. Further, the present invention solves the fourth problem in the water treatment of the above-mentioned conventional fuel cell system, and prolongs the life and reduces the amount of ion exchange resin used for water purification. Therefore, when purifying using a reverse osmosis membrane device, the running cost is reduced by reducing the disposal of concentrated water.
