明 細 書 紙葉類識別方法および装置 技術分野
本発明は、 紙幣、 印羝、 有価証券などの紙葉類の種類や真偽などを識別す る方法および装置に関する。 より詳細には、 種類毎に色分けざれている紙葉類 を識別する際に、 処理に時間がかかるパターン認識を行うことなく紙葉類の金 種や真偽を識別する ^法および装置に関する。 背景技術
種類 (金種等) の異なる紙葉類 (紙幣等).を一括してホツバに受け入れ、 この紙葉類を 1枚ずつ装置内部に繰り出して搬送し、 種類 (紙幣であれば、 金 種) を識別して、 種類毎の枚数 (金種毎の金額)や合計枚数 (合計金額) など を計数して表示する紙葉類識別装置は、 従来より知られている (例えば、 日本 a特開 2 .0 0 3— 1 7 8 3 4 8号公報を参照)。
この種の紙葉類識別装置は、 :紙葉類のィンクパターンや磁気パターンを検 出する識別部を備え'、 該識別部が検出した光や磁気に基づいて符号化データを' 形成し、 該符号化データを予め用意された基準データと比較照合することによ り、.紙葉類の種類や真偽を識別するようになっている (例えば、 日本国特開 2 0 0 1 - 1 0 1 4 7 2号公報、 日本国特開 2 0 0 1— 3 5 7 4 2 9号公報、 お よび日本国特許第 3 8 1 2 8 5 8号公報を参照)。
ところで、 このような識別方法を用いていた従来の紙葉類識別装置でほ、 例えば、 金種毎に色分けされていて、 人の目でも簡単に見分けられるユーロ紙 幣などを識別する場合にも、 インクパターンや磁気パターンを検出して、 バタ .ーン認識を行っていた。
しかしながら、 このパターン認識は、 検出した光や磁気に基づいて符号化 デ—夕を形成する処理を要するため、 非常に時間がかかるという問題があった
。 仮に、 紙葉類識別装置の'識別部に高性能な C P Uなどを具備す iば、 これら の処理の高速化を図ることができるが、 これにより、 紙葉類.識 琴置の製造コ ストの増加を招いてしまうという問題があった。
また、.例えば、 種類毎 (金種毎) にサイズが顕著に異なる紙幣^識別する 場合には、 そのサイズを測定することにより、 処理を簡略化することができる が、 ユーロ紙幣のよう ίこ金種毎に色が異なる.紙葉類や汚れている紙葉類を単色 情報のみで識別する 、 ; 確にサイズを検出することができない ¾があつた。
Φ発明は、 この うな点に鑑みてなされたものであり、- その目的は、 種類 毎にサイズおょぴ色の異なる紙葉類を識別する際の処理速度を高速化し、 かつ
、 コストを増加することなく高い精度で種類を識別することができる紙葉類の 識別方法および装置を提供することにある。 発明の開示
本発明の上記目的は、 搬送される紙葉類に光據波長の異なる数種類の光を 照射して得られる反射光または透過光の光量を検出するラインセンサを含むセ ンシングュニットを用い 、 種類毎にサイズおよび色の異なる紙葉類を識別す る紙葉類識別方法において、 識別候補となる紙葉類の種類毎に予め生成された 参照サイズデータお'よび参照光量デ一夕を記憶する記憶ステツプと、 前記セン シングュニットによって検出された前記紙葉類の検出サイズデー夕と前記参照 サイズデータとに基づいて、 前記識別候補の中から識別対象種を選定する第 1 判定ステップと、 前記ラインセンサによって検出された前記紙葉類の検出光量 データと前記識別対象種の前記参照光量データとを比較することにより、 前記 紙葉類の種類を特定する第 2判定ステップとを含むことによって、 達成される また、 本発明の上記目的は、 前記ラインセンサが、 搬送方向と直交する方 向に沿って配設され、 搬送される前記紙葉類に対して複数回のライン検出を緣 り返すことにより前記紙葉類を面状に走査する構成であり、'前記第 1判定ステ ップが、 前記ラインセンサにより得られた前記検出サイズデータである搬送方 向と直交する方向における前記紙葉類の札幅を、 識別候捕となる紙葉類の種類 毎に予め生成された閾値と比較して、 前記札幅が前記閾値内に含まて,いる前記 ライン検出の回数を計数するとともに、 その計数結果に基づいて前記識別候補 の中から 1種類の識別対彖種を選定し、 かつ、 前記第 2判定ステップが、 前記 紙葉類の検出光量デ 1夕き、 前記識別対象種の前記参照光量データおよび前記 識別候補のうちサイズ順が前記識別対象種と隣接する少なくとも 1種類の前記 参照光量データと比較することによって、 効果的に達成される。
また、 本発明の上記目的は、 前記第 1判定ステップが、 前記センシングュ ニットの一部を構成する光学センサによって得られた前記検出サイズデータで ある瘢送方向における前記紙葉類の札長を、 前記参照サイズデータと比較する ことにより、 前記計数の対象とする複数の候補種を選定することによって、 効 果的に達.成される。
また、 本発明の上記目的は、:前記複数の候補種が、 2種類であることによ つて、 効果的に達成される。
また、 本発明の上記目的は、 前記第 2判定ステップが、 前記検出光量デー 夕を色相、 彩度、 および明度に符号化して 3次元データを生成するとともに、 該 3次元データを前記参照光量データと比較して色データの分布傾向を参照す ることにより、 前記紙葉類の種類を特定することによって、 効果的に達成され る。
また、 本発明の上記目的は、 前記第 2判定ステップが、 前記検出光量デー 夕を色相、 彩度、 および明度に符号化して 3次元デ一夕を生成し、 該 3次元デ —夕から前記明度のパラメ一夕を削除した 2次元デ一夕を算出し、 かつ、 該 2 次元データを前記参照光量デ一夕と比較して色データの分布傾向を参照するこ とにより、 前記紙葉類め種類を特定することによって、 効果的に達成される。 さらに、 本発明の上記目的は、 前記光が、 赤色光、 緑色光、 色光、 赤外 光より成る群から選ばれた 2種以上であることによって、 効果的に達成される また、 本発明の上記目的は、 搬送される紙葉類に光源波長の異なる数種類 の光を照射して得られる反射光または透過光の光量を検出するラインセンサを 含 センシングュニッ卜を用いて、 種類毎にサイズおよび色の異なる紙葉類を 識別する紙葉類識別装置 おいて、 識別候補となる紙葉類の種類毎に予め生成 された参照サイズデータおよび参照光量デマ夕を記憶する記憶手段と、 前言己セ ンシンク'ユニットによって横出された前記紙葉類の検出サイズデータと前記参 照サイズデ一夕とに基づいて、 前記識別候補の中から識別対象種を選定する第

また、 本 明の上記.目的は、 前記第 1判定手段が、 前記センシングュニッ トの一部を構成する光学センサによつて得られた前記検出サイズデ一夕である 搬送方向における前記紙葉類の札長を、 前記参照サイズデ一夕と比較すること により、 前記識別候補の中から前記計数の対象とする複数の候補種を選定する ^とによって、 効果的に達成される。
また、 本発明の上記 的は、 前記複数の候補種が、 2種類であることによ つて、 効果的に達成される。
また、 本発明の上 I己目的は、 前記第 2判定手段が、 前記検出光量データを 色相、 彩度、 および明度に符号化レて 3次元データを生成するとともに、 該 3 次元データを前記参 光量データと比較して色データの分布傾向を参照するこ とにより、 前記紙葉類の種類を特定することによって、 効果的に達成される。
また、 本発明の上 ^目的は、 前記第 2判定手段が、 前記検出光量データを 色相、 彩度、 および明度に符号化して 3次元データを生成し、 該 3次元データ から前記明度のパラメータを削除した 2次元デ一夕を算出し、 かつ、 該 2次元 デ一夕を前記参照光量データと比較して色データの分布傾向を参照することに より、 前己紙葉類の種類を特定することによって、 効果的に達成される。 ' さらに、 本発明の上記目的は、 前記光が、 赤色光、 緑色光、 青色光、 赤外 光より成る群から選ばれた: 2種以上であることによつて、 効果的に達成される
. 以上のように構成された本発明に係る紙葉類の識別方法および装置によれ ば、 種類毎にサイズおよび色の異なる紙葉類を識別する際に、. 2段階の判定を 行い、 第 1判定では、 紙葉類の検出サイズデ一夕に基づいて識別候補の中から 識別対象種を選定し、 第 2判定では、 紙葉類の検出光量データを第 1判定で選 定された識別候補の参照光量データと比較することにより、 紙葉類の種類を特 定するようになっている。 これにより、 インクパターンや磁気パターンを検出 .してパターン認識を行う必要がないため、 識別部の構成が簡略ィ匕され、 識別処 理の高速化を低コス卜で実現することができるとともに、 識別部の小型化を図 ることができる。 .' '
また、 第 2判定で参照する参照光量データの対象を、 ^ 1判定で選定され た 1種類の識別対象種および識別候補のうちサイズ順がこの識別対象種と隣接 する種類に限定すること ίごより、 デ一夕を比較する処理時間を短縮することが できる。
また、 第 1判定で識別候補の中から計数の対象とする複数の候補種を、 搬 送方向における紙葉類の札長に基づいて選定された 2種類に限定することによ り、 検出ラインの回幾 . 数する処理時間を短縮することができるとともに、 紙葉類の札幅および札長に基づいて紙葉類のサイズ識別を行うので、 紙葉類の サイズを高精度〖こ検知することができる。
また、 第 2判定で赤色光、 緑色光、 および青色光の 3波長の検出光量デー 夕を色相、 彩度、 および明度に符号化して 3次元デ一夕を生成し、 さらに該 3 次元データから明度のパラメータを削除した 2次元データを算出して、 色デ一 タの分布傾向を参照することにより、 紙寒類の汚れによる影響を軽減すること ができるとともに、 処理速度の向上を図ることができる。, 図面の簡車な説明.

発明を実施するための最良の形態
以下、 図面を参照にしながら本発明の実施形態を説明する。
第 1図は、 本発明の第 1実施形態に係る紙葉類計数装置の概観を示す斜視 図である。 同図において、 紙葉類計数装置 1は、 筐体 2の上部前方側に、 紙幣 などの紙葉類が重積状態で充填されるホッパ部 3を備え、 その下方の筐体 2の 前面部には、 紙葉類の計数 ·識別処理を行う際^種々の設定を行うとともに、 それらの処理状態等を表示するための操作表示部 4を備えている。 この操作表 示部 4は、 処理操作の入力などを行うための複数の操作ポタン 4 Aと、 該操作 ボタン 4 Aによる入力情報や計数状態などを表示するための液晶表示パネル 4 Bとを有し、 操作ボタン 4 Aの入力操作によって、 例えば複数国の紙幣の計数 •識別処理などが実行きれる。
また、 紙葉類計数装置 1は、 筐体 2の下部前方側に、 計数済 の紙葉類が 整列集積されるス夕ッ力部 5を備え、 その上方には、 計数対象から排除された 紙葉類、 すなわち識別手段により異種と判断された紙葉類などが集積されるリ ジェクト部 6を備えている。 なお、 符号 5 Aで示す部材は、 ス夕ッ力,部 5に搬 送されてきた紙葉類を受止めて、 スタツ力部 5に整列集積ざせるための羽根車 である。 .
第 2図は、 本発明の実施形態に係る紙葉類識別装置 1の繰出搬送機構を概 略的に示す説明図で る。 同図にお て、 ホッパ部 3は、 紙葉類の有無を 知 するホッパセンサ P S 1と、 ホッパ部 3に充填されている紙葉類を最下位から 順次繰り出し繰出機構 7とを備え、 ホッパ部センサ P S 1による検出信号まこ は操作ポタン 4 Aによる操作に応じて繰出機構 7が作動し、 ホッパ部 3に充填 された紙葉類が紙葉類識別装置 1の内部に形成された搬送路 8に送り出される 。 繰出機構 7を構成するローラは、 クラッチを介して動力伝達され、 紙葉類を 所定時間棒り出し、 ブレーキをかけて紙葉類の追走や重送を防止するようにな つている。
搬送路 8の経路中には、 投光器と受光器とからなり、 搬送される紙葉類め 異常 (紙葉類のジャム等) や紙葉類の位置などを検出する光学センサ P S 2〜 P S 5 , V P 1 , V P 3が配設されている。
繰出機構 7の直後 (下流側) に配された繰出制御センサ P S 2は、 繰出機 構 7のクラヅチおよびブレーキの制御に用いられ、 該繰出制御センサ P S 2の 下流に配された識別制御センサ V P 1は、 搬送される紙葉類の斜行度合いなど の検出に用いられる。 この識別制御センサ V P 1の下流には、 識別部の一部を 構成するラインセンサ L Sおよび磁気センサ M Gと、 複数枚の紙葉類が重なつ .た状態で搬送されていないかを検出する重送センサ D B Lとが配されている。
これらのセンサの搬送路 8上における平面的な配置は、 第 3図に示すよう な配置である。 識別制御センサ V P 1は、 光学通過センサであり、 通過†る紙 葉類 Pの札長 P (搬送方向である Y方向の寸法) の検出などに用いられる。 ラ インセンサは L Sは、 赤色光、 緑色光、 および青色光の 3色の可視光による反 射型センサと、 赤外光による透過型センサとを備え、 紙葉類 Pが搬送されるの に伴って紙葉類 Pを面状に走査し、 紙葉類 P上の各位置での反射光や透適光な どの物理量の分^ ΐを検出するものであり、 紙葉類 Ρの種類の識別、 方向や札幅 P,w (搬送方向に直交する X方向の寸法) の検出などに用いられる。 一方、 磁気 センサ M Gは、 紙葉類の真偽などを識別するのに用いられる。
上記各種センサヒよる識別や検出を終えた紙葉類は、 搬送路 8のリジェク ト部 6とス夕ッ力部 5とに分岐する地点に配設されたフリッパ 9によって、 リ ジェクト部 6またはス夕ッ力部 5に振り分けられる。 このフリッパ 9ば、 紙菜 類の先端が振分制御センサ V P 3 'に達した際にソレノィドが駆動することによ り揺動し、 搬送路 8を主搬送路 8 a側 (スタツ力部 5方面) から分岐搬送路 8 b側 (リジェクト部 6方面) に切り換える。 識別部によって正常と判断された 紙葉類 ( 数対象と認められた紙葉類) は、 フリッパ 9を経て主搬送路 8 aに . 沿って搬送され、 主搬送路通過センサ P S 5でカウントされた後に、 羽根車 5 Aによってス夕ッ力部 5に整列集積される。 一方、 識別部によって異種や異常 と判断された紙葉類 (計数対象から排除された紙葉類) は、 ゾレノイドが作動 してフリツバ 9が下方に揺動することにより、 分岐搬送路 8 bに沿ってリジェ クト部 6に搬送される。 ス夕ッ力部 5の紙葉類の存在は、 スタツ力部センサ P S 3によって検出され、 リジェクト部 6の紙葉類の存在は、 リジェクト部セン サ P S 4によって検出される。
紙葉類の繰出機構 7や羽根車 6 Aなどの繰出搬送機構は、 筐体 2内の下方 . に設けられたメインモー夕 1 0によって駆動される。 メインモータ 1 0は、 上 .記各種センサによって、 ジャムゃ斜行搬送などの異常が検出ざれると停止する ようになつている。 また、 筐体 2の下方には、 上述したフリッパ 9のソレノィ ド、 メインモー夕 MM、 各種センサや、 後述する制御部などを駆動するための パワーュニッ卜 1 1が設げられている。
第 4図は、 本発明の実施形態に係る紙幣識別装置 1の制.御部の構成例を概 略的に示すブロック図である。 同図において、 センシングュニッド 21は、 ラ インセンサ LS、 磁気センサ MG、 重送センサ DBL、 および光学センサ PS 2〜P S 5, VP 1, VP 3などに接続され、 これら各種センサの出力を信号 変換して、 そ ©検出信号をバス 22を介して CPU (マイクロプロセッサ等) 23に供給する。 駆動部 24は、 CPU 23からの駆動指令信号にしたがって メインモータ 10、 フリッパ 9のソレノイド、 繰出機構 7めクラッチおよびブ レーキなどを駆動して、 繰出搬送機構を作動させる。 操作部 25は、 操作表示 部 4に設けられた操作ボタン 4Aによって構成され、 表示部 26は、 操作表示 部 4に設けられた液晶表示パネル 4 Bによって構成される。 ROM27および RAM28は、 所定の記録媒体によって構成され、 制御プログラムや紙葉類の 識別データ等を記憶する。 さらに、 RAM28は、 CPU22のメインメモリ として使用され、 操作部 25から入力されたデータやパラメータ等を記憶する 第 5図は、 本発明の実施形態に係る紙葉類識別装置 1の紙葉類識別機能を 概略的に説明するブロック図である。 なお、 本実施形態では、 以下に説明する 紙葉類識別処理は、 第 4図に示した CPUシステムによって実現されるもので あるが、 本発明はこれに限定されるものではない。
同図において、 センシングユニット 21の一部を構成する各種センサによ つて検出された紙葉類 Pの各データは、 センシングユニット 21で八 0¾換 され、 RAM28に一時記憶される。 本実施形態では、 紙葉類 Pの種類を識別 するパラメ一夕として、 識別制御センサ VP 1により得られた紙葉類の札長 ( . PL) データと、 ラインセンサ LSの 4波長光 (赤色反射光, 緑色反射光, 青色 反射光, および赤外透過光) X所定回数 (通過する 1枚の紙葉類に対するライ ン検出の回数) により得られた紙葉類の札幅 (P,w) データと、 ラインセンサ L Sの 3波長 (赤色光,:緑色光, および青色光) の反射光を検出することによ り得られた検出光量データとが用いられる。 .
本実施形態に係る紙葉類識別手段ほ、 大別すると、 候補種選定手段 3 1 A 、 札幅算出手段 3 1 B.、 ライン数計数手段 3 1 C、 および識別対象種手段 3 1 Dを含む第 1判定手段 3 1と、 平均値算出手段 3 2 A、 データ変換手段 3 2 B • 、 および種類特定手段 2 Bを含む第 2判定手段 3 2とから構成され、 第 1判 定手段 3 1では、 紙葉類 Pのサイズ情報に基づいて種類の識別を行い、.一方、 第 2判定手段 3 2では、 紙葉類 Pの色情報に基づいて種類め識別を行.うように . なっている。
候補種選定手段 3 1 Aは、 R AM 2 8に一時記憶されている札長データを 、 識別候補となる紙葉類の種類毎に予め生成されて R OM 2 7に記憶されてい る参照サイズデータと比較して、 2種類の候補種を選定する。
札幅算出手段 3 1 Bは、 R AM 2 8に一時記憶されている札幅データから 、 ライン.検出毎に得られた札幅を算出する。 .ここで、 各札幅は、 第 6図に示す ように、 ライン検出により得られたデータから紙葉類のエッジを抽出すること により算出される。
ライン数計数手段 3 1 Cは、 第 7 0のユーロ紙幣の計数結果例に示すよう に、 札幅算出手段 3 1 Bにより得られた札幅を、 識別候補となる紙葉類の種類 毎に予め生成されて R O M 2 7に記憶された閾値と比較して、 該閾値内に含ま れているライン検出の回数を各波長毎に計数する。
識別対象種選定手段 3 1 Dは、 ライン数計数手段 3 1 Cで得られた計数結 果に基づいて、 候補種選定手段 3 1 Aによって選定された 2種類の候補種 (1 0 E U, 2 0 E U) のうち大きい候補種 (2 0 E U) からカウントの有無をチ .エックして; 1種類の識別対象種を選定する。 この実施例では、 2 0 E Uで力 ゥン卜された検出ラインがあるので、 識別対象種を 2ひ E Uと選定するが、 仮 に 2 0 E Uでカウントされた検出ラインが 0の場合には、 識別対象種を 1 0 E Uと選定する。
平均値算出手段 3 2 Aは、 R AM 2 8に一時記憶されている #色皮射光、 緑色反射光、 および青色反射光の検出光量デ一夕から、 識別対象種毎に予め設 定されている特定領域にお,けるセンサ出力の平均値をラインセンサ L Sに設け られた各チヤンネル毎に算出する。 紙葉類は、 種類毎に特徴さが出やすい領域 を有するため、. この領 を特定領域として設定することで、.紙葉類の全域にお けるセンサ出方の平均f直の算出および 3次元データの生成をすることなく、 紙 葉類の種類を識別することができる。 第 8図は、 紙葉類の特定領域の一例を説 明するための図であって、 (a ) は流通券 2 0ユーロの算出結果であり、 ( b ) は市場汚れ券 2 0ユーロの算出結果である。 .同図において、 (a ) のグラフと ( b ) とを比較すると、 楕円で囲まれた箇所 (色の薄い透かし部分) のデ一夕変 動が大きくなつている (赤色反射光と青色反射光のセンサ出力の強弱関係が逆 転している)。 したがって、 2 .0ユーロ紙幣の識別の場合には、 このような箇所 を特定領 として判定に使用するのは好ましくないため、 '色の濃い部分 (同図' では青の強い部分) を特定領域として判定に使用する。
データ変換手段 3 2 Bは、 色の数値化処理において比較的色の分別率がよ い G r b表色系の変換式を用いて、 平均値算出手段 3 2 Bにより得られた特定 領域におけるセンサ出力の平均値を、 色相、 彩度、 および明度に符号化して 3 次元の色データを生成し、 該 3次元デ一夕から明度のパラメ一夕を除外して 2 次元の色データに変換する。 第 9図は、 この表色系の変換の一例として、 ユー 口紙幣の各金種の分布を示す G r b表色系のグラフである。 色の判定は 3 元 デ一夕では判定が難しいため、 同グラフでは、 R G Bを簡潔に 2次元データに 変換している。 一般的な明度は、 [赤 X 0 . 2 9 9 +緑 X 0 . 5 8 7 +青 X 0 . - 1 1 4 ] という式から求められることから、 明度の大半は緑の要素で示されて いることがわかる。 そこで、 本実施形態では、 明度 (G) =緑、 r (色素) = 赤一緑、 b (色素) —緑として、 3次元データを生成し、 該 3次元データ から明度 (G) のパラメ.一夕を除外したデ一夕で分布を表現する。
なお、 本実施形態では、 色の数値化処理に G r b表色系を用いた 、 本発 明はこれに限定されず、 例えば L * a * b *表色系を用いて 3次元データを生 成し、 該 3次元データから L * (輝度) のパラメ一夕を除外したデータで分布 するようにしても、 上述した G r b.表色系とほぼ同様の効果を得ることができ るノ
種類特定手段 3 2iCは、 予め R O M 2 7に記憶されている参照光量デ一夕 の色の分布傾向を参照して、 データ変換手段 3 2 Bによって得られた 2次元の 色デ 夕が、 どの種類に含まれるかを判断し、 紙葉類 Pの種類を特定する。 こ こで、 本実施形態における識別対象の紙葉類は、 種類毎にサイズおよび色の異 なる紙葉類であって、 特に、 第 1判定手段 3 1で選定された識別対象種と、 識 別候補のうちサイズ順が識別対象種と隣接する種類とでは、 色が大きく異なる 紙葉類である (例えば、 ユーロ紙幣など)。 したがって、 本実施形態に係る種類 特定手段.3 2 Cでは、 色の分布傾向を参照する際に、 第 1判定手段 3 1で選定 された識別対象種と、 識別候補のうちサイズ順が識別対象種より 1つ大きい種 類とを比較するようになっている。 第 1 0図は、 色データの分布の一例として 、 5ユーロと 1 0ユーロの分布を示す L * a * b表色系のグラフである。 同図 において、 5ユーロ領域と 1 0ユーロ領域との間に示されている 2本の太線は 、 それぞれの領域の境界を表す閾値であり、 ブロック矢印 Aより右側に分布さ れれば 5ユーロと判断され、 ブロック矢印 Bより左側に分布されれば 1 0ュ一 口と判断される。 なお、 伺図において、 色デ一夕が 2本の太線の間に分布され た場合には、 識別不能と判断され、 その紙葉類は、 異種の紙葉類と同様、 リジ ェクト部 6に送られる。
- このように、 本実施形態に係る紙葉類識別手段では、 第 1判.定手段 3 1に より 1種類の識別対象種に絞り込み、 第 2判定手段 3 2で色の分布傾向を参照 する際に、 該識別対象瘇と、 識別候補のうちサイズ順が識別対象種より 1っ大 きい種類とを比較するだげでよいので、 判定処理回路の構造を簡易化すること がで.きるとともに、 判定処理速度の高速化を図るこどがでぎる。 .
次に本実施形態に係る紙葉類識別装置の識別処理例を図 1 1のフローチヤ —トを参照にしながら説明する。
まず、 識別制御センサ VP 1により検出され、 RAM28に一次記憶され ている紙葉.類の札長デ 夕を取得し (ステップ S 1 1)、 取得した札長デ一夕と 識別候補となる紙葉類の種類毎に予め生成されて ROM.27に記憶されている 参照サイズデータとを比較して、 2種類の候補種を選定する (ステップ S 12) 。
次に、 ラインセンサ L Sにより検出され、 RAM 28に一時記憶されてい る札幅データを取得レ (ステップ S 13)、 取得しだ札幅データに基づいて、 ラ インセンサ L Sの各ライン検出により得られたデ一夕から紙葉類のエッジを算 出し、 ライン検出毎に得られた札幅を算出する.(ステップ S 14)。
" 次に.、 識別候補となる紙葉類の種類毎に予め生成されて ROM 27に記憶 された閾値内に含まれる札幅を検出した検出ラインの Θ数を計数し (ステップ S 1 5)、 ステップ S 12で選定した 2種類の候補種の閾値内に含まれた検出ラ インの回 ¾を比較して、 1種類の識別対象種を選定する (ステップ S 16)。
..次に、 ラインセンサ L Sにより検出され、 RAM 28に一時記憶されてい る 3波長光 (赤色光, 緑色光, および青色光) の反射光の検出光量データを取 得し、 識別対象種毎に予め設定されている特定領域におけるセンサ出力の平均 値をラインセンサ L Sに:設けられた各チャンネル毎に算出し (ステップ S 17) 、 その後、 そのセンサ出力の平均値を、 色相、 彩度、 および明度に符号化して 3次元の色データを生成し、 該 3次元データから明度のパラメ一夕を除外して .2次元の色データに変換する (ステップ S 18)。 そして、 予め ROM 27に記 憶されている参照光量データを参照して、 色の分布傾向が識別対象種と該識別 対象種よりサイズ順が一つ大きい種類のどちらに属するかを判断し、 紙葉類の 種類を特定する (ステップ S 1 9 )。
以上のように、 本発明の実施形態に係る紙葉類識別装置.1によれば、 種類 毎にサイズおよび色の異なる紙葉類を識別する際に、 第 1判定手段.3 1が、 紙 葉類の検出サイズデ一夕に基づいて識別候補の中から識別対象種を選定し、 第 2判定手段 3 2が、 紙葉類の検出光量データを、 第 1判定手段 3 1により選定 された識別候補の参照 量デ一夕と比較することにより、 羝葉類の種類を特定 するようになっている。 ^れにより.、 インクパターンや磁気パターンを検出し てパターン認識を行 必要がないため、 識別処理回路の構成が簡略化され、 識 別処理の高速化を低コストで実現することができるとともに、 識別部の小型化 を図ることができる。
以上、 本発明を具体的に説明してきたが、 本発明はそれに限定されるもの ではなく、 その趣旨を逸脱しない範囲で種々変更可能である。
- 産業上の利用可能性
本発明は、 紙葉類をホッパに受 入れて、 受け入れた紙葉類の枚数を計数 して、 ス夕ッ力部に集積する紙葉類識別装置に適用することができ、 特に種類 毎にサイズおよび色が異なる紙葉類を識別する際の処理速度の高速化を図る場 合に有用である。

Claims

請 求 の 範 囲
. 搬送される紙葉類に光源波長の異なる数種類の光を照.射して得られる反 射光または透過光の 量を検出するラインセンサを含むセンシ.ングュニッ トを用いて、 種類毎にサイズおよび色の異なる紙葉類を識別する,紙葉類識 別方法であって、
識別候補となる紙葉類の種類毎に予め生成された参照サイズデータおよ び参照光量データを 憶する記憶ステップと、
記センシングュニッ小によって検出された前記紙葉類の検出サイズデ 一夕と前記参照サイズデータとに基づいて、 前記識別候補の中から識別対 象種を選定する第 1判定ステップと、
前記ラインセンサによって検出された前記紙葉類の検出光量データと前 記識別対象種の前記参照光量データとを比較することにより、 前記紙葉類 の種類を特定する第 2判定ステップ^: .
を章むことを特徴とする紙葉類識別方法。 前記ラインセンサは、 搬送方向と直交する方向に沿って配設され、 搬^ される前記紙葉類に対して複数回のライン検出を繰り返すことにより前記 紙葉類を面状に走査する構成であり、
前記第 1判定ステップは、 前記ラインセンサにより得られた前記検出サ ィズデ一夕である搬送方向と直交する方向における前記紙葉類の札幅を、 識別候補となる紙葉類の種類毎に予め生成された閾値と比較して、 前記札 幅が前記閾値内に含まている前記ライン検出の回数を計数するとともに、 その計数結果に基づいて前記識別候補の中から 1種類の識別対象種を選定 し、 かつ、
前記第 2判定ステップは、 前記紙葉類の検出光量データを、 前記識別対 象種の前記参照光 *データおよび前記識別候補のうちサイズ順が前記識別 対象種と隣接する少なくとも 1種類の前記参照光量データと比較すること により、 前記紙葉類の種類を特定する請求の範囲第 1項に記載の紙葉類識 別方法。 前記第 1判定ステップは、 前記センシングユニットの一部を構成する光 学センサによって i られた前記検出サイズデータである搬送方向における 前記紙葉類の札長を、, 前記参照,サイズデータと比較することにより、 前記 計数の対象とする複数の候補種を選定する請求の範囲第 2項に記載の紙葉 類識別方法。 前記複数の候補種は、 2種類である請求の範囲第 3項に記載の紙葉類識 別方法。 前記第 2判定ステップは、 前記検出光量デ一夕を色相、 彩度、 および明 度に符号化して 3次元データを生成するとともに、 該 3次元データを前記 参照光量デ一夕と比較して色デ一夕の分布傾向を参照することにより、 M 記紙葉類の種類を特定する請求の範囲第 1項ないし第 4項のいずれかに記 載の紙葉類識別方法。 前記第 2判定ステップは、 前記検出光量データを色相、 彩度、 および明 度に符号化して 3次元データを生成し、 該 3次元データから前記明度のパ ラメ一夕を削除した 2次元データを算出し、 かつ、 該 2次元データを前記 参照光量デ一夕と比較して色データの分布傾向を参照することにより、 前 記紙葉類の種類を特定する請求の範囲第 1項ないし第 4項のいずれかに記 載の紙葉類識別方法。 前記光は、 赤色 、 '緑色光、 青色光、 赤外光より成る群から選ばれた 2 種以上である請求の範囲第 1項ないし第 4項のいずれかに記載の紙葉類識 別方法。 搬送される紙葉類に光源波長の異なる数種類の光を照射して得られる反 射光または透過光 CD光量を検出するラインセンサを含むセンシングュニッ トを備え、 種類毎にサイズおよび色の異なる紙葉類を識別する紙葉類識別 装置であって、
識別候補となる紙葉類の種類毎に予め生成された参照サイズデータおよ び参照光量データを記憶する記傖手段と、
前記センシングュニットによつて検出された前記紙葉類の検出サイズデ 一夕と前記参照サイズデータとに基づいて、 前記識別候補の中から識別対 象種を選定する第 1判定手段と、 , - 前記ラインセンサによって検出された前記紙葉類の検出光量データと前 記識別対象種の前記参照光量デ一夕とを比較することにより、 前記紙葉類 の種類を特定する第 2判定手段と
を備えることを特徴とする紙葉類識別装置。 前記ラインセンサは、 搬送方向と直交する方向に沿って配設され、 搬送 される前記紙葉類に対して複数回のライン検出を繰り返すことにより前記 紙葉類を面状に走査する構成であり、
前記第 1判定手段は、 前記ラインセンサにより得られた前記検出サイズ データである搬送方向と直交する方向における前記紙葉類の札幅を、 識別 候補となる紙葉類の種類毎に予め生成された閾値と比較して、 前記札幅が 前記閾値内に含まている前記ライン検出の回数を計数するとともに、 その 計数結果に基づいて前記識別候補の中から 1.種類の識別対象種を選定し、 かつ、
前記第 2判定手段は、 前記紙葉類の検出光量データを.、 前記識別対象種 の前記参照光量データおよび前記識別候補のうちサイズ順が前.記識別対象 種と隣接する少なくとも 1種類の前記参照光量デ一夕と比較するごとによ り、 前記紙葉類の種類を特定する請求の範囲第 8項に記載の紙葉類識別装 置。 . 前記第 1判定手段は、 前記センシングユニットの一部を構成する 学 . センサによって得られた前記検出サイズデータである搬送方向における前 記紙葉類の札長を、 前記参照サイズデータと比較することにより、 前記計 数の対象とする複数の候補種を選定する請求の範囲第 9項に記載の紙葉類 識別装置。 . 前記複数の候補種は、 2種類である請求の範囲第 1 0項に記載の紙葉 類識別装置。 . 前記第 2判定手段は、 前記検出光量データを色相、 彩度、 および明度 に符号化して 3次元デ一夕を生成するとともに、 該 3次先デ一夕を前記参 照光量データと比較して色データの分布傾向を参照することにより、 前記 : 紙葉類の種類を特定する請求の範囲第 8項ないし第 1 1項のいずれかに記 載の紙葉類識別装置。 . 前記第 2判定手段は、 前記検出光量データを色相、 彩度、 および明度 に符号化して 3次元データを生成し、 該 3次元データから前記明度のパラ メ一夕を削除した 2次元データを算出し、 かつ、 該 2次元データを前記参 照光量デ"ダと比較して色データの分布傾向を参照することにより、 前記 紙葉類の種類を特定する請求の範囲第 8項ないし第 1 1項のいずれかに記 載の紙葉類識別装置。 . 前記光は、 赤色 、 緑色光、 青色光、 赤外光より成る群から選ばれた 2種以上である請求の範囲第 8項ないし第 1 1項のいずれかに記載の紙葉 類識別装置。
