Definitions
- LED signal transmitters and methods for operating such a LED have significant advantages over other light sources, such as incandescent lamps. This applies, for example, in terms of their energy consumption, their longevity and their light intensity. This has meant that LED signal encoders, ie signal transmitters using LEDs, are becoming increasingly popular for signaling systems or light signals, for example in the field of railway signaling technology or road traffic.
- LED signal transmitters for use in the field of railway signaling technology are known, for example, from the company publication "LED Signaling Devices, Economic Operation through the Use of LEDs", Order No .: A19100-V100-B896-V1, Siemens AG 2010 the LED signal heads usual chate such compatible with classical systems with incandescent ⁇ lamps, that they can be used instead of such systems. in order in this case a low-effort as possible, thus enabling also inexpensive replacement, the LED signal heads generally have the same interface to the Signalstrom- circle of interlocking on how the classical optical syste ⁇ me.
- the present invention has for its object to provide a particularly advantageous with regard to the operational use and at the same time at least compatible with existing systems LED signal generator.
- a LED signal generator with a two-wire interface for connecting the LED signal generator to a control unit via a two-wire ⁇ line, the LED signal generator is designed to transmit a diagnostic message to the control unit by changing an electrical current flowing through the two-wire line.
- the LED signaling device of the invention thus has a two- ⁇ wire interface by means of which the LED signal generator, is connectable via a two-wire line to a control unit, which may be for example a control computer of a signal box.
- a control unit which may be for example a control computer of a signal box.
- the LED signal generator is further formed such ⁇ that a diagnostic message to the control unit is transferable by changing the current flowing through the Zweidrahtlei ⁇ tion electrical current.
- the electrical current flowing via the two-wire line which is usually already present, is changed in this case by the LED signal generator such that a conventional or valid region of the electrical current is left.
- the control unit On the basis of the change in the electrical current flowing over the two-wire line, it is advantageously possible for the control unit to recognize the diagnostic message and thus deduce the condition of the LED signal generator.
- the diagnostic message in this case refers to an early or preventive diagnosis ei ⁇ nes possible or imminent defect that a corresponding diagnostic message, for example, is issued when the light output of the LED signal generator is sufficient only for a limited time.
- the control unit is thus enabled, for example, to initiate preventive maintenance or ei ⁇ nen preventive component replacement of the LED signal generator. This offers the advantage that on-demand maintenance is possible to the extent that failures of the
- LED signal generator can be prevented without a purely precautionary, ie without actual need, a maintenance measure is required. It should be pointed out that diagnostic information or diagnostic data on which the diagnostic message is based can be detected both by the LED signal generator itself and by a component connected to the LED signal transmitter by communication technology. It is thus possible on the one hand that the LED signal generator itself acquires the diagnostic data and generates the diagnostic message based on this data. Depending on the respective requirements, the acquired data may be, for example, the number of switch-on operations of the LED signal generator or a measured variable detected by means of a sensor device, such as, for example, the light output of the LED signal transmitter.
- the LED signaling device is further developed such that the LED signal is formed, the diagnostic message when turning on the LED signal generator, by varying the flie- via the two-wire line sequent electric current to the control unit to übertra ⁇ gene.
- the LED signal transmitter according to the invention can preferably also be designed to transmit the diagnostic message to the control unit by temporarily changing the electrical current flowing via the two-wire line.
- the fact that the transfer of the diagnostic message is from the LED signal to the control unit only temporarily, is advantageously ensures that Störun ⁇ be gen operation of the LED signal transmitter at least largely avoided.
- the LED signal generator according to the invention can also be designed such that the LED signal generator is designed to change the electrical current flowing through the two-wire line for a predetermined time and / or a predetermined number of switch-on of the LED signal generator.
- the electrical current flowing via the two-wire line can be changed, for example, until the next switch-on process or else during a certain number of switch-on operations.
- the LED signal generator according to the invention may preferably also be formed, at least to change the current flowing via the two-wire line ⁇ electric current in accordance with a time-current pattern. This offers the advantage that using the time-stream pattern, ie a certain zeitli ⁇ chen the current path, a coding particularly clear and erroneous interpretations ⁇ reliably avoid the diagnostic message is possible.
- the LED signal generator according to the invention can be designed to transmit different diagnostic messages to the control unit by means of different time-current patterns.
- different time-current patterns corresponding to distinction code to transmit different types of diagnostic messages to the control unit and thus to transmit different types of disturbances or Diag ⁇ nose agon to the control unit.
- the invention further comprises a set of signals with at least ⁇ an inventive LED signal heads or at least one LED-signal transmitter according to one of the preferred developments of the LED signal generator according to the invention described above.

- the change in the electrical current I i is detected by the control unit 200 as a diagnostic message and example ⁇ example issued on a control monitor in the form of a corresponding warning. Due to the merely temporary change in the electrical current I i flowing via the two-wire line 100, it is still possible, despite possible restrictions, to make operational use of the LED signal generator 10.
- the corresponding change in the electrical current I.sub.i flowing via the two-wire line 100 thus makes it possible to signal a fault or impending fault to the control unit 200 by means of the diagnostic message during operation of the LED signal generator 10.
- ⁇ can, by different time-current patterns, each corresponding to a code, different diagnostic messages are transmitted to the control unit 200th
- LED signal transmitter and the corresponding method have the advantage in particular ⁇ sondere that no or only minor changes .wei ⁇ se of the hardware and software of the control unit ⁇ 200 are required.
