De façon plus spécifique, la présente invention se rapporte à un appareil de connexion d'appel et à un procédé de connexion d'appel correspondant dans lequel un terminal portable comprend une application qui utilise à la fois un réseau de communication à commutation de circuits et un réseau de communication à commutation de paquets. De cette manière, l'application contenue dans le terminal portable qui est apte à être connecté à la fois au réseau de communication à commutation de circuits et au réseau de communication à commutation de paquets, est exécutée de sorte à se connecter à un serveur via le réseau de communication à commutation de paquets. Elle peut ainsi envoyer des données d'authentification ou un numéro de destination et un numéro d'appelant au serveur avant que la connexion téléphonique ne soit établie. Ceci permet de raccourcir le temps qu'il faut à un utilisateur pour saisir manuellement lesdites données d'authentification ou lesdits numéros. Ceci permet d'autre part de réduire le risque d'erreur induit par ce type de saisie manuelle. Par voie de conséquence, les coûts peuvent aussi être réduits. Par ailleurs, un centre de commutation du serveur peut renvoyer un rappel automatique à un terminal appelant qui est déjà connu du centre de commutation, et l'appel peut être connecté au tarif le plus avantageux pour l'utilisateur. Ceci peut remplacer l'envoi de données d'authentification ou d'informations relatives à une destination ou à un appelant à un serveur via un réseau de communication à commutation de paquets. De cette manière, des frais de service sont calculés sur la base du tarif du téléphone mobile de l'appelant. La charge sur l'utilisateur est ainsi réduite et l'utilisateur peut parler au moyen de son terminal portable à moindre coût.
