Abstract

Verfahren zur Herstellung eines emissionsarmen Treibgases (T), welches zum Betreiben einer Brennkraftmaschine (1), insbesondere für einen Otto-Gas-Motor, geeignet ist, wobei ein Kraftstoff (F, F') in einem Vergasungsprozess oder einem Reform ierprozess in ein Synthesegas gewandelt wird und das so hergestellte Synthesegas einem Shift-Prozess unterzogen wird, wodurch der Anteil der chemischen Energie des Synthesegases, der in Wasserstoff enthalten ist, erhöht wird, wobei nach dem Shift-Prozess im Synthesegas enthaltenes CO2 in einem Abscheideprozess abgeschieden wird, wobei dem Gasgemisch aus Synthesegas und Luft ein von der Brennkraftmaschine (1) emittiertes Abgas (A) beigefügt wird.

Description

Verfahren zur Herstellung eines emissionsarmen Treibgases
Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung eines emissionsarmen Treibgases, ein emissionsarmes Treibgas für eine Brennkraftmaschine sowie ein Verfahren zum Betreiben einer Brennkraftmaschine.
Aus dem Stand der Technik sind Ansätze zum Betreiben von Brennkraftmaschinen mit wasserstoffreichen Brenngasen bekannt. Das Ziel dieser Entwicklungen ist es meist, unterschiedliche Kraftstoffe oder Kraftstoffqualitäten für den Betrieb einer Brennkraftmaschine nutzbar zu machen.
Die JP 2001 -152846 A hat eine Brennkraftmaschine mit einer Reformiereinrichtung zum Gegenstand. Gemäß dieser Schrift wird in einer Reformiereinrichtung das im Kraftstoff enthaltene Methan unter Zuhilfenahme von Kohlendioxid und Wasser zu Kohlenmonoxid und Wasserstoff umgewandelt. Das dabei eingesetzte Kohlendioxid stammt aus einem C02-Abscheider, der Kohlendioxid aus Abgasen der Brennkraftmaschine abscheidet. Es wird bei dem beschriebenen Verfahren also Kohlendioxid aus dem Abgas abgeschieden und der Reformiereinrichtung zugeführt.
Die US 2010/001/8478 A1 zeigt eine Brennkraftmaschine mit einer Reformiereinrichtung und einer Abgasrückführung. In der Reformiereinrichtung wird der Brennstoff in ein Synthesegas gewandelt und anschließend das Synthesegas mit Luft vermischt. In einem weiteren Schritt wird zusätzlich ein Teil des Abgases der Brennkraftmaschine diesem Gasgemisch zugeführt.
Die WO 2010/076967 A2 zeigt eine Vorrichtung zur Verringerung von Schadstoffemissionen aus dem Abgas einer Brennkraftmaschine. Dabei wird das Abgas durch eine Reformiereinrichtung geleitet, welche den im Abgas enthaltenen Sauerstoff und die im Abgas enthaltenen Kohlenwasserstoffe in Wasserstoff und Kohlenmonoxid wandelt. Aufgabe der Erfindung ist es, ein verbessertes Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Treibgases anzugeben. Zudem soll ein Treibgas und ein Verfahren zum Betreiben einer Brennkraftmaschine angeben werden. Gelöst werden diese Aufgaben durch ein Verfahren zur Herstellung eines emissionsarmen Treibgases mit den Merkmalen von Anspruch 1 bzw. durch ein emissionsarmes Treibgas nach Anspruch 5 und ein Verfahren zum Betreiben einer Brennkraftmaschine nach Anspruch 6. Erfindungsgemäß wird das Treibgas so erzeugt, dass ein Kraftstoff in einem Vergasungsprozess oder einem Reform ierprozess in ein Synthesegas gewandelt wird und das so hergestellte Synthesegas einem Shift-Prozess unterzogen wird, wodurch der Anteil der chemischen Energie des Synthesegases, der in Wasserstoff enthalten ist, erhöht wird, wobei nach dem Shift-Prozess im Synthesegas enthaltenes C02 in einem Abscheideprozess abgeschieden wird.
Indem nach dem Shift-Prozess im Synthesegas enthaltenes C02 in einem Abscheideprozess abgeschieden wird, ist das so erhaltene, einer Brennkraftmaschine zuführbare Treibgas nahezu frei von C02 und die Brennkraftmaschine kann somit nahezu ohne C02-Emissionen betrieben werden.
Der inerte Anteil des Treibgases wird somit hauptsächlich durch Stickstoff gebildet.
Die Herstellung des Synthesegases kann durch einen Reform ierprozess oder etwa auch durch einen Vergasungsprozess erfolgen. Ein Beispiel für einen Vergasungsprozess ist etwa die Holzvergasung. Im Kontext der vorliegenden Offenbarung wird unter Vergasung eine thermische Zerlegung eines Energieträgers in im Wesentlichen Wasserstoff und Kohlenmonoxid verstanden.
Bevorzugt kann vorgesehen sein, dass der Shift-Prozess so erfolgt, dass wenigstens 90 %, vorzugsweise 95 % der chemischen Energie des Synthesegases in Wasserstoff enthalten ist.
Die Abscheidung des CO2 aus dem Synthesegas erfolgt bevorzugt vor einem Eintritt des Treibgases in eine Brennkraftmaschine. Es kann vorgesehen sein, dass der Abscheideprozess von CO2 derart erfolgt, dass der CO2-Gehalt im Synthesegas maximal 10 vol.-%, vorzugsweise maximal 5 vol.-% beträgt. Erfindungsgemäß ist vorgesehen, dass dem Gasgemisch aus Treibgas und Luft ein von der Brennkraftmaschine emittiertes Abgas beigefügt wird. Durch diese Abgasrückführung wird wenigstens ein Teil der Abgase wieder der Brennkraftmaschine zugeführt und kann so zur Moderierung der Verbrennung genutzt werden. Es kann vorgesehen sein, dass Stickstoff (N2) aus dem Abgas abgeschieden und dem Motor als Moderator zugeführt wird. In diesem speziellen Fall einer Abgasrückführung wird lediglich das im Abgas enthaltene N2 der Brennkraftmaschine rückgeführt.
Schutz wird auch begehrt für ein Treibgas für eine Brennkraftmaschine mit folgender chemischer Zusammensetzung:
- Wasserstoffgehalt von 40 vol.-% bis 80 vol.-%
- Kohlendioxid kleiner 10 vol.-%
- Kohlenmonoxid kleiner 10 vol.-%
- Kohlenwasserstoffe kleiner als 2 vol.-%
- Rest Stickstoff
In der folgenden Tabelle sind ermittelte Werte für CO2-Konzentrationen in vorkommenden Stoffströmen angegeben. Die Werte sind ungefähre Angaben und dienen zur Erläuterung.

Die CO2-Konzentration im Reformergas vor einer CO2-Abscheidung ist wesentlich höher als die CO2-Konzentration in einem Roh-Abgas. Schutz wird auch begehrt für ein Verfahren zum Betreiben einer Brennkraftmaschine. Vorteile der Erfindung sind insbesondere:
• Entfall von Abgasnachbehandlung
• Der mit dem von C02 befreiten, etwa zu 50 % aus H2 bestehenden Reformgas betriebene Gasmotor kann bei entsprechend hohem Luftüberschuss eine sehr hohe Leistungsdichte und einen sehr hohen Wirkungsgrad bei gleichzeitig minimaler Schadstoffemission ohne zusätzlicher Abgasnachbehandlung erreichen.
• Bei Betrieb bei Lambda 1 .03 (vollständige Verbrennung, leicht über- stöchiometrisch) emittiert der Motor nur das theoretische Minimum, gleichzeitig ist die Fracht an inerten Bestandteilen durch den Motor minimiert.
• Die Abscheidung des C02 aus dem Reformgas gegenüber der Abscheidung aus Abgas hat den Vorteil, dass die C02-Konzentration wesentlich höher ist als im Abgas des Motors bzw. umgekehrt der Volumenstrom durch die C02- Abscheideeinrichtung um den Faktor 3-4 geringer ist. Dies ermöglicht eine sehr kostengünstige C02-Abtrennung. (Im Sinne einer Minimierung des Reformgas- Volumenstromes wird die Zuführung von Abgas in den Reformer möglichst gering gehalten).
• Ein weiterer Vorteil der Reformierung besteht darin, dass damit praktisch jeder Treibstoff zum Betrieb eines Gasmotors genutzt werden kann (sogenannte fuel flexibility).
• Bei zusätzlicher Anwendung einer Rückführung von gekühltem Abgas kann das Verbrennungsluftverhältnis auf 1 ,0 reduziert werden, woraus sich die Vorteile einer höheren Abgastemperatur sowie einer stark verringerten Abgasmenge ergeben. Dadurch wird der Ladungswechsel begünstigt und sowohl der mechanische als auch der thermische Wirkungsgrad des Motors erhöht.
Ein besonderer Vorteil der erfindungsgemäßen Anordnung bzw. des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens liegt darin, dass die Abscheidung des Kohlendioxids (CO2) am Synthesegas, und zwar nach dem Reform ierungsschritt und vor dem Eintritt des so erhaltenen Brenngases in die Brennkraftmaschine erfolgt.
Aus dem Stand der Technik ist es bekannt, CO2 aus Abgasen einer Brennkraftmaschine abzuscheiden. Die Abscheidung von CO2 aus Abgasen hat allerdings den Nachteil, dass hohe Volumenströme mit relativ geringer CO2- Konzentration verarbeitet werden müssen. Da ja zur Verbrennung eines Brenngases in einer Brennkraftmaschine noch Luft zugefügt wird, ist der Volumenstrom des Abgases einer Brennkraftmaschine höher als der Volumenstrom des zugeführten Brenngases. Beispielsweise beträgt die CO2-Konzentration des Abgases eines Magermotors bei λ = 1 .8 ca. 5.2%, wohingegen die CO2-Konzentration des vorgeschlagenen Motoranlagenkonzepts nach dem Reform ierprozess und vor der CO2-Abscheidung ca. 20% beträgt.
Gemäß einem Aspekt der Erfindung erfolgt also die Abscheidung des Kohlendioxids zu einem Zeitpunkt einer hohen Konzentration an CO2. Zur wirtschaftlichen Weiterverwendung des CO2 ist es günstig, die Volumenströme klein zu halten und die Konzentration hoch zu halten.
Gemäß der Erfindung kann ein Motorbetrieb ohne Abgasnachbehandlung mit Einhaltung folgender Emissionslimits realisiert werden:
NOx < 50 mg/ m3
CO < 50 mg/ m3
THC (total hydrocarbons, d.h. unverbrannte Kohlenwasserstoffe) < 50 mg/ m3 CO2 < 0.5%
Die Erfindung wird im Folgenden anhand der Figuren näher erläutert. Dabei zeigt:

Figur 1 zeigt ein vereinfachtes Blockschaltbild einer Anordnung zur Durchführung des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens. Der Brennkraftmaschine 1 ist eine Reformiereinrichtung 2 vorgeschaltet, in welcher ein Kraftstoff F, zum Beispiel Erdgas, in einem Reform ierprozess in ein Synthesegas umgewandelt wird. Alternativ oder zusätzlich dazu kann ein fester Kraftstoff F' in einem Vergaser 5 in ein Synthesegas umgewandelt werden. Das so hergestellte Synthesegas wird in einem Shift-Reaktor 4 einem Shift-Prozess unterzogen, wodurch jener Anteil der chemischen Energie des Synthesegases, der in Wasserstoff enthalten ist, erhöht wird. Nach dem Verlassen der Reformiereinrichtung 2 enthält das Synthesegas noch größere Mengen an Kohlenmonoxid. Im Shift-Reaktor 4 wird das Kohlenmonoxid unter Zufuhr von Wasserdampf in Kohlendioxid umgesetzt. Das nun Kohlenmonoxid-arme Synthesegas tritt in einen C02-Abscheider 3, wo im Synthesegas enthaltenes Kohlendioxid (C02) in einem Abscheideprozess abgeschieden wird. Das so erhaltene emissionsarme Treibgas T ist nahezu frei von Kohlendioxid.
Das emissionsarme Treibgas T wird in einem Gasmischer 1 1 mit Luft L und gegebenenfalls mit aus der Brennkraftmaschine 1 rückgeführtem Abgas A gemischt und der Brennkraftmaschine 1 zugeführt. Die Rückführung von Abgas A aus der Brennkraftmaschine 1 erfolgt über die Abgasrückführung 6. Das von der Brennkraftmaschine 1 emittierte Abgas A besteht im wesentlichen aus Stickstoff (N2) und Wasserdampf und ist weitgehend frei von Kohlendioxid (C02). Das rückgeführte Abgas A dient zur Moderierung der Verbrennung in der Brennkraftmaschine 1. Die Menge an rückgeführtem Abgas A kann gesteuert oder geregelt werden.
In Figur 2 ist eine Anordnung zur Durchführung des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens in einem weiteren Ausführungsbeispiel dargestellt. Gegenüber der Variante gemäß Figur 1 , in welcher ein einfacher Aufbau gezeigt ist, weist das Ausführungsbeispiel nach Figur 2 zusätzliche Merkmale auf, die den Wirkungsgrad der Anordnung erhöhen und die beteiligten Stoff- bzw. Energieströme weiter nutzen.
Die Anordnung zeigt wieder eine Reformiereinrichtung 2 zur Erzeugung von Synthesegas aus einem Kraftstoff F über einen Reformierprozess. Der Kraftstoff F wird gemäß diesem Ausführungsbeispiel allerdings einem ersten Wärmetauscher HXgas zugeführt und in diesem vorgewärmt. Es kann zur weiteren Erwärmung des Kraftstoffes F auch ein Vorwärmer 7a vorgesehen sein. Der vorgewärmte Kraftstoff F tritt in die Reformiereinrichtung 2 ein. Über einen weiteren Wärmetauscher HXair wird die Luft L vorgewärmt und, gegebenenfalls über einen Vorwärmer 7b, der Reformiereinrichtung 2 zugeführt. Nach der Reformiereinrichtung 2 tritt das in der Reformiereinrichtung 2 über einen Reform ierprozess erzeugte Synthesegas in den Shift-Reaktor 4. Dort wird es Shift-Prozess unterzogen, wodurch jener Anteil der chemischen Energie des Synthesegases, der in Wasserstoff enthalten ist, erhöht wird. Nach Austritt aus dem Shift-Reaktor 4 tritt das Synthesegas in die bereits erwähnten Wärmetauscher HXgas und HXair und gibt dort Wärme an den Kraftstoff F bzw. an die Luft L ab. In den weiteren Wärmetauschern HX, HX2 und HX3 kann das Synthesegas weiter gekühlt und Wasser (H20) abgeschieden werden.
Im darauffolgenden C02-Abscheider 3 wird im Synthesegas enthaltenes Kohlendioxid (C02) in einem Abscheideprozess abgeschieden. Das so erhaltene emissionsarme Treibgas T kann entweder in einem Speicher 9 zwischengespeichert werden oder direkt der Brennkraftmaschine 1 zugeführt werden.
Im Gasmischer 1 1 wird dem emissionsarmen Treibgas T Luft L und Abgas A zugesetzt. Alternativ oder zusätzlich zur Zusetzung von Abgas A kann ein anderes inertes Gas zugegeben werden.
Das Gemisch aus emissionsarmen Treibgas T, Luft L und Abgas A wird der Brennkraftmaschine 1 zur Verbrennung zugeführt.
Stromabwärts der Brennkraftmaschine 1 kann Abwärme als Wärme H einer Nutzung zugeführt werde, beispielsweise einer kommunalen Wärmeversorgung. Man spricht in diesem Zusammenhang häufig von einem 90/70-Kreislauf, wobei 90 für eine
Vorlauftemperatur von 90°C und 70 für eine Rücklauftemperatur von 70°C steht.
Aus der Brennkraftmaschine 1 kann das Abgas einen Katalysator 10 zugeführt werden.
Darin können beispielsweise unvollständig verbrannte Spezies weiter oxidiert werden.
Im darauffolgenden Wärmetauscher HX4 wird Wärme H entzogen und kann einem 90/70-Kreislauf zugeführt werden. Die aus dem Wärmetauscher HX4 weisenden Pfeile der Wärme H weisen auf Vorlauf hin, die in den Wärmetauscher HX4 weisenden Pfeile deuten den Rücklauf an. Ein Teil des Abgases A kann über die Abgasrückführung 6 zum Gasmischer 1 1 geleitet werden. Der Rest kann an die Umgebung abgegeben werden.
Es kann vorgesehen sein, dass das Abgas A zur Kühlung einen weiteren Wärmetauscher HX5 durchläuft, in welchem neben der Abgabe von Wärme H auch eine Abscheidung von Wasser H20 erfolgt. Dieses Wasser kann entsorgt werden. Vorteilhaft ist es, einen Teil des Wassers einem Dampferzeuger 8 zuzuführen, um so den Stoffstrom zu schließen. Aus dem Dampferzeuger 8 wird der dort erzeugte Wasserdampf dem Kraftstoff F zugesetzt und zur Reformiereinrichtung 2 geleitet.
Als Kraftstoff F kann zum Beispiel Erdgas, LPG (engl, liquified petroleum gas), Diesel oder Methanol verwendet werden.

Claims

Patentansprüche
1 . Verfahren zur Herstellung eines emissionsarmen Treibgases (T), welches zum Betreiben einer Brennkraftmaschine (1 ), insbesondere für einen Otto-Gas-Motor, geeignet ist, wobei ein Kraftstoff (F, F') in einem Vergasungsprozess oder einem Reform ierprozess in ein Synthesegas gewandelt wird und das so hergestellte Synthesegas einem Shift-Prozess unterzogen wird, wodurch der Anteil der chemischen Energie des Synthesegases, der in Wasserstoff enthalten ist, erhöht wird, wobei nach dem Shift-Prozess im Synthesegas enthaltenes CO2 in einem Abscheideprozess abgeschieden wird, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass dem Gasgemisch aus Synthesegas und Luft ein von der Brennkraftmaschine (1 ) emittiertes Abgas (A) beigefügt wird.
2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 , dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Abscheidung des CO2 aus dem Synthesegas vor einem Eintritt des Treibgases in eine Brennkraftmaschine (1 ) durchgeführt wird und das so hergestellte emissionsarme Treibgas T in einem Speicher (9) gespeichert oder unmittelbar einer Brennkraftmaschine (1 ) zugeführt wird.
3. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Shift-Prozess so erfolgt, dass wenigstens 90%, vorzugweise 95% der chemischen Energie des Synthesegases in Wasserstoff enthalten ist.
4. Verfahren nach wenigstens einem der vorangegangenen Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Abscheideprozess derart erfolgt, dass der CO2-Gehalt im Synthesegas maximal 10 vol.-% , vorzugsweise maximal 5 vol.-% beträgt.
5. Emissionsarmes Treibgas (T) für eine Brennkraftmaschine mit folgender chemischer Zusammensetzung:
- Wasserstoffgehalt von 40 vol.-% bis 80 vol.-%
- Kohlendioxid kleiner 10 vol.-%
- Kohlenmonoxid kleiner 10 vol.-% - Kohlenwasserstoffe kleiner als 2 vol.-%
- Rest Stickstoff
Verfahren zum Betreiben einer Brennkraftmaschine (1 ), insbesondere eines Otto- Gas-Motors, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Brennkraftmaschine (1 ) ein nach wenigstens einem der Ansprüche 1 - 4 hergestelltes emissionsarmes Treibgas (T), insbesondere ein Treibgas (T) nach Anspruch 5 zugeführt wird.
Verwendung eines nach wenigstens einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4 hergestellten Treibgas, vorzugsweise einem Treibgas nach Anspruch 5 zum Betreiben einer Brennkraftmaschine.
