Abstract

L'invention concerne une fonte ferritique à graphite sphéroïdal, contenant, en pourcentages en masse : 3,4 % à 3,8 % de carbone (C), 1,5 % à 2,1 % de silicium, au maximum 0,25 % de manganèse (Mn), au maximum 0,05 % de soufre (S), jusqu'à 0,6 % de soufre (S), jusqu'à 0,6 % d'éléments d'accompagnement usuels, le reste étant du fer (Fe). L'invention vise à obtenir, pour une telle fonte ferritique à graphite sphéroïdal, une énergie absorbée lors d'un essai de choc sur éprouvette entaillée d'au moins 20 J à une température de -10 °C. À cet effet, la somme des éléments d'accompagnement que sont le chrome (Cr), le vanadium (V), le niobium (Nb) et le titane (Ti) est limitée à 0,05 % en masse. On obtient ainsi, dans cette fonte, un nombre de billes de graphite inférieur ou égal à 160/mm². L'invention concerne en outre l'utilisation d'une telle fonte pour des éléments structuraux sensibles aux basses températures, en particulier sur des navires ou des éoliennes.
