Description
본 발명은 레이저 펄스 제어 장치 및 레이저 펄스 제어 방법에 관한 것으로, 펄스 제어 장치의 광변조기에 인가되는 전압 또는 고주파 전력을 조절함으로써 레이저 펄스를 선택적으로 추출하여, 버스트 모드(burst mode)를 생성하는 레이저 펄스 레어 장치 및 레이저 펄스 제어 방법에 관한 것이다.
전자산업 등의 정밀 부품 가공을 위해 레이저 가공 기술은 점점 더 초정밀화, 초고속화, 대면적화 가공으로 기술 발전이 이루어지고 있다. 특히, 반도체, 디스플레이, 태양전지, 차세대 고부가/고기능 PCB, 차세대 패키징 산업 등을 포함하는 마이크로 전자산업 분야의 부품을 가공하기 위해서는 초정밀 가공이 필수적이다.
이러한 마이크로 크기의 초정밀 가공을 위해서 레이저 사양도 고성능이 요구된다. 가공의 미세화를 위해 자외선 영역의 레이저를 이용하거나, 펄스폭이 매우 짧은 펨토초 및 피코초 펄스 레이저가 이용된다. 이와 동시에 레이저 빔의 공간 분포가 단일 모드인 고품위 레이저가 요구된다. 또한 고속화 및 대면적화를 위해서는 고반복률, 고출력의 펄스 레이저가 요구된다.
레이저를 펄스로 작동시키는 방법으로 큐(Q) 스위칭, 모드잠금(mode locking) 방법이 이용되고 있다. 레이저 다이오드에서는 인가해주는 전류를 직접 변조하여 펄스로 작동하는 방법이 이용된다.
기존에는 레이저 펄스를 버스트 모드로 발생시키기 위해, 1개의 펄스를 편광자를 사용하여 펄스를 분할한 후 경로차를 발생시켜 버스트 모드를 구현하는 방법이 이용되었다. 그러나, 이 방식의 경우 1개의 펄스를 생성하여 분할하는 것이기 때문에 레이저 펄스 에너지의 제한을 가지고 있다. 또한, 레이저 빔을 분할하는 광학계가 추가적으로 필요하며, 버스트 모드의 레이저 펄스 개수를 임의로 조절하는 것이 어려울 수 있다.

본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 펄스 제어 장치는 일정한 시간 간격으로 복수의 레이저 펄스를 발생시키는 펄스 레이저 발생기; 구동에 의해 상기 레이저 펄스들 중 일부를 선택적으로 추출하는 광변조기; 상기 광변조기에 인가되는 전기적인 신호를 시간에 따라 변화시키면서 상기 광변조기의 구동을 제어하는 제어부; 및 상기 추출된 레이저 펄스들을 증폭하는 광증폭기;를 포함한다.
상기 광변조기는 전기 광학 변조기(EOM; electro optics modulator)를 포함할 수 있다.
상기 전기적인 신호는 전압을 포함하고, 상기 제어부는 상기 전기 광학 변조기에 시간에 따라 변화하는 전압을 인가할 수 있다.
상기 광증폭기로부터 나오는 상기 레이저 펄스들의 출력은 일정하거나 또는 시간에 따라 변화할 수 있다.

본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 펄스 제어 방법은 일정한 시간 간격으로 복수의 레이저 펄스를 발생시키는 단계; 광변조기의 구동에 의해 상기 레이저 펄스들 중 일부를 선택적으로 추출하는 단계; 및 상기 추출된 레이저 펄스들을 증폭하는 단계;를 포함하며, 상기 추출하는 단계는, 제어부가 상기 광변조기에 인가되는 전압 또는 고주파 전력을 시간에 따라 변화시킴으로써 수행된다.
상기 광변조기는 전압 인가에 의해 구동되는 전기 광학 변조기를 포함하며, 상기 제어부는 상기 전기 광학 변조기에 시간에 따라 변화하는 전압을 인가할 수 있다.

아래에서는 첨부한 도면을 참조하여 본 발명이 속하는 기술 분야에서 통상의 지식을 가진 자가 용이하게 실시할 수 있도록 본 발명의 실시예를 상세히 설명한다. 그러나 본 발명은 여러 가지 상이한 형태로 구현될 수 있으며 여기에서 설명하는 실시예에 한정되지 않는다. 그리고 도면에서 본 발명을 명확하게 설명하기 위해서 설명과 관계없는 부분은 생략하였으며, 명세서 전체를 통하여 유사한 부분에 대해서는 유사한 도면 부호를 붙였다.
명세서 전체에서, 어떤 부분이 다른 부분과 "연결"되어 있다고 할 때, 이는 "직접적으로 연결"되어 있는 경우뿐 아니라, 그 중간에 다른 소자를 사이에 두고 "전기적으로 연결"되어 있는 경우도 포함한다. 또한 어떤 부분이 어떤 구성요소를 "포함"한다고 할 때, 이는 특별히 반대되는 기재가 없는 한 다른 구성요소를 제외하는 것이 아니라 다른 구성요소를 더 포함할 수 있는 것을 의미한다.
도 1은 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 펄스 제어 장치(100)를 개략적으로 도시한 것이다.
도 1을 참조하면, 펄스 제어 장치(100)는 펄스 레이저 발생기(110), 광변조기(120), 제어부(130) 및 광증폭기(140)을 포함한다.
펄스 레이저 발생기(100)는 일정한 시간 간격으로 복수의 레이저 펄스(LP)를 연속적으로 발생시킬 수 있다. 이러한 펄스 레이저 발생기(100)는 레이저를 발생시키는 물질의 종류에 따라 기체, 액체, 고체 레이저 발생기 등으로 다양하게 분류될 수 있다. 펄스 레이저 발생기(100)에서 발생된 복수의 레이저 펄스(LP) 간의 시간간격은 100ns 이하가 될 수 있다.
광변조기(120)는 광변조기(120)로 입사된 레이저 펄스(LP)들 중, 일부를 선택적으로 추출하는 역할을 할 수 있다. 광변조기(120)는 전기 광학 변조기(EOM; electro optics modulator) 및 음향 광학 변조기(AOM; acoustic optics modulator)를 포함할 수 있다.
제어부(130)는 광변조기(120)에 전기적인 신호를 인가하여 광변조기(120)의 구동을 제어할 수 있다. 제어부(130)는 광변조기(120)가 전기 광학 변조기인 경우 전압을 인가할 수 있으며, 광변조기(120)가 음향 광학 변조기인 경우에는 고주파 전력을 인가하여 광변조기(120)의 구동을 제어할 수 있다.
광변조기(120)가 전기 광학 변조기인 경우, 포켈스 효과(Pockels effect)를 이용하여 레이저 펄스(LP)를 선택적으로 추출할 수 있다. 전기 광학 변조기를 통과한 레이저 빔의 광 경로 상에는 편광 빔 스플리터(PBS; polarization beam splitter)(미도시)가 위치할 수 있다. 제어부(130)가 전기 광학 변조기에 전압을 인가하면, 전기 광학 변조기 매질의 굴절률이 변화하게 되며, 이에 따라 빛의 편광방향이 바뀔 수 있다. 이를 이용하여, 펄스 레이저 발생기(110)에 의해 발생된 레이저 펄스(LP)들 중 일부만을 선택적으로 추출할 수 있으며, 또한, 추출된 레이저 펄스(LP)들의 강도도 조절할 수 있다.
예를 들면, 편광 빔 스플리터는 P형 광선은 통과시키고, S형 광선은 반사시킬 수 있으며, 전기 광학 변조기를 통과한 레이저 펄스(LP)들은 S형의 편광방향을 가질 수 있다. 따라서, 제어부(130)에 의해 전기 광학 변조기에 전압이 가해지기 전에는 레이저 펄스(LP)들은 편광 빔 스플리터를 통과할 수 없다. 제어부(130)가 전기 광학 변조기에 전압을 인가하면 레이저 펄스(LP)들의 편광방향은 회전하게 되며, 편광 빔 스플리터를 통과할 수 있다. 또한, 인가되는 전압의 크기를 조절함으로써 레이저 펄스(LP)들의 편광방향의 회전 각도를 조절할 수 있으며, 이에 따라 추출되는 레이저 펄스(LP)들의 강도도 조절할 수 있다.
광변조기(120)가 음향 광학 변조기인 경우, 제어부(130)가 음향 광학 변조기에 고주파 전력을 인가하면, 음향 광학 변조기 매질의 굴절률의 주기적인 변화로 인해 회절격자에 의한 빛의 회절현상이 발생할 수 있다. 이에 따라, 음향 광학 변조기로 입사된 레이저 펄스(LP)들 간의 경로차가 발생할 수 있으며, 경로차를 이용하여 레이저 펄스(LP)들 중 일부만을 선택적으로 추출할 수 있다. 또한, 음향 광학 변조기에 인가되는 고주파 전력의 크기를 조절함으로써, 추출되는 레이저 펄스(LP)들의 강도도 조절할 수 있다.
광증폭기(140)는 광변조기(120)에 의해 추출된 레이저 펄스(LP)들을 증폭하여 출력한다. 레이저 펄스(LP)가 광증폭기(140)에 입력되면 반전분포된 에너지를 축출하여 레이저 펄스(LP)들의 에너지가 증폭될 수 있다. 광증폭기(140)의 증폭매질에 축적되는 에너지와 레이저 펄스(LP)의 증폭과의 관계는 이하 후술하기로 한다.
도 2a는 광증폭기(140)에 여기 에너지를 연속적으로 가할 때, 증폭매질에 축적되는 에너지와 포화시간과의 관계를 나타낸 그래프이다. 도 2a를 참조하면, 일정시간 동안 즉, 포화시간(ts)에 이르기까지는 축적되는 에너지가 계속적으로 증가하게 된다. 포화시간은 증폭매질에 따라 다르지만, 희토류 이온의 경우에 수 마이크로초(ms; micro second)에서 수십 마이크로초 영역이 일반적이다.
도 2b 및 도 2c는 광증폭기(140)에 여기 에너지를 연속적으로 가하면서, 주기적으로 레이저 펄스(LP)가 입사하고 증폭되어 출력될 때, 광증폭기(140) 매질에 축적되는 에너지와 입력 레이저 펄스(LP) 및 출력 레이저 펄스(LP)를 나타내는 그래프이다. 도 2b를 참조하면, 펄스 레이저 발생기(110)에서 발생된 후, 광변조기(120)에 의해 선택적으로 추출된 레이저 펄스(LP)들간의 시간간격(t1)은 포화시간(ts) 보다 크거나 같을 수 있다. 즉, 하나의 레이저 펄스(LP)가 광증폭기(140)에 입력된 후, 다음 레이저 펄스(LP)가 입력될 때까지의 시간은 포화시간(ts)보다 크거나 같다는 것이다. 먼저 입력된 레이저 펄스(LP)가 광증폭기(140)에 의해 증폭된 후, 다음 레이저 펄스(LP)가 입력되기 전에 광증폭기(140)의 증폭매질에 축적된 에너지는 포화상태가 될 수 있다. 따라서, 후순위로 입력된 레이저 펄스(LP)도 충분히 증폭될 수 있으며, 이에 따라 먼저 입력된 레이저 펄스(LP)와 다음으로 입력된 레이저 펄스(LP)의 출력은 동일할 수 있다.
도 2c를 참조하면, 펄스 레이저 발생기(110)에서 발생된 후, 광변조기(120)에 의해 선택적으로 추출된 레이저 펄스(LP)들간의 시간간격(t2)은 포화시간(ts)보다 작을 수 있다. 즉, 하나의 레이저 펄스(LP)가 광증폭기(140)에 입력된 후, 다음 레이저 펄스(LP)가 입력될 때까지의 시간은 포화시간(ts)보다 작다는 것이다. 먼저 입력된 레이저 펄스(LP)가 광증폭기(140)에 의해 증폭된 후, 다음 레이저 펄스(LP)가 입력될 때, 광증폭기(140)의 증폭매질에 축적된 에너지는 포화상태에 도달하기 전일 수 있다. 따라서, 후순위로 입력된 레이저 펄스(LP)는 먼저 입력된 레이저 펄스(LP)에 비해 증폭되는 정도가 작을 수 있으며, 이에 따라 먼저 입력된 레이저 펄스(LP)는 다음으로 입력된 레이저 펄스(LP)의 출력보다 큰 값을 가질 수 있다. 또한, 입력 에너지가 낮으면 증폭효율도 떨어지게 되므로, 포화시간(ts)보다 작은 시간간격(t2)을 갖는 레이저 펄스(LP)가 광증폭기(140) 연속적으로 입력되면, 출력되는 레이저 펄스(LP)들은 점점 감소하는 출력을 나타낼 수 있다.
도 3a 내지 도 3d는 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 펄스 제어 장치(100)를 이용하여, 레이저 펄스(LP)들을 선택적으로 추출하여 증폭하는 과정을 도시한 것이다. 도 3a를 참조하면, 펄스 레이저 발생기(110)에 의해 발생된 레이저 펄스(LP)들은 서로 일정한 시간 간격을 가질 수 있다. 레이저 펄스(LP)들간의 시간 간격은 100ns이하일 수 있으며, 광증폭기(140)의 포화시간(ts)보다 작을 수 있다.
도 3b는 제어부(130)에 의해 광변조기(120)에 인가되는 전압 또는 고주파 전력을 나타낸 그래프이다. 도 3b를 참조하면, 제어부(130)는 시간에 따라 일정하게 유지되는 전압 또는 고주파 전력을 일정한 시간 간격을 두고 광변조기(120)에 인가할 수 있다.
도 3c는 광변조기(120)에 의해 선택적으로 추출된 레이저 펄스(LP)들을 나타낸 것이다. 제어부(130)에 시간에 따라 일정하게 유지되는 전압 또는 고주파 전력이 인가되었으므로, 광변조기(120)에 의해 추출되는 레이저 펄스(LP)들은 동일한 출력을 가질 수 있다. 광변조기(120)에 전압 또는 고주파 전력이 인가되지 않는 구간에서는 레이저 펄스(LP)들이 추출되지 않을 수 있다.
도 3d는 광변조기(120)에서 추출된 후, 광증폭기(140)에 의해 증폭된 레이저 펄스(LP)들을 도시한 것이다. 도 3d를 참조하면, 동일한 군에 속하는 레이저 펄스(LP)들간의 시간 간격은 광증폭기(140)의 포화시간(ts)보다 작을 수 있다. 따라서, 먼저 입력된 레이저 펄스(LP)가 광증폭기(140)에 의해 증폭된 후, 다음 레이저 펄스(LP)가 입력될 때, 광증폭기(140)의 증폭매질에 축적된 에너지는 포화상태에 도달하기 전일 수 있다. 따라서, 후순위로 입력된 레이저 펄스(LP)는 먼저 입력된 레이저 펄스(LP)에 비해 증폭되는 정도가 작을 수 있으며, 이에 따라 먼저 입력된 레이저 펄스(LP)는 다음으로 입력된 레이저 펄스(LP)의 출력보다 큰 값을 가질 수 있다. 또한, 입력 에너지가 낮으면 증폭효율도 떨어지게 되므로, 포화시간(ts)보다 작은 시간 간격을 갖는 레이저 펄스(LP)가 광증폭기(140) 연속적으로 입력되면, 출력되는 레이저 펄스(LP)들은 점점 감소하는 출력을 나타낼 수 있다. 광변조기(120)에 전압 또는 고주파 전력이 인가되지 않는 구간에서는 광증폭기(140)에 입력되는 레이저 펄스(LP)가 없으므로, 광증폭기(140)의 증폭매질에 축적된 에너지는 다시 포화상태에 도달할 수 있다. 이때, 광증폭기(140)에 포화시간(ts)보다 작은 시간 간격을 갖는 레이저 펄스(LP)들이 입력되면, 점점 감소하는 출력을 나타내는 레이저 펄스(LP)들이 다시 출력될 수 있다.
제어부(130)에 의해 광변조기(120)에 전압 또는 고주파 전력이 인가되는 구간에서는 레이저 펄스(LP)들이 추출되며, 레이저 펄스(LP)들간의 시간 간격은 100ns 이하가 될 수 있다. 반면에, 광변조기(120)에 전압 또는 고주파 전력이 인가되지 않는 구간에서는 레이저 펄스(LP)가 출력되지 않으며, 전압 또는 고주파 전력이 인가되지 않는 시간은 수백 ns 이상이 될 수 있다. 따라서, 제어부(130)에서 광변조기(120)로의 전압 또는 고주파 전력의 인가 및 비인가에 의해, 100ns 이하의 시간 간격을 갖는 레이저 펄스(LP)들의 그룹이 수백 ns 이상의 시간을 주기로 반복될 수 있으며, 이를 버스트 모드라고 할 수 있다.도 4a 내지 도 4d는 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 펄스 제어 장치(100)를 이용하여, 레이저 펄스(LP)들을 선택적으로 추출하여 증폭하는 과정을 도시한 것이다.
도 4a를 참조하면, 펄스 레이저 발생기(110)에 의해 발생된 레이저 펄스(LP)들은 서로 일정한 시간 간격을 가질 수 있다. 레이저 펄스(LP)들간의 시간 간격은 100ns이하일 수 있으며, 광증폭기(140)의 포화시간(ts)보다 작을 수 있다.
도 4b는 제어부(130)에 의해 광변조기(120)에 인가되는 전압 또는 고주파 전력을 나타낸 그래프이다. 도 4b를 참조하면, 제어부(130)는 시간에 따라 증가하는 전압 또는 고주파 전력을 일정한 시간 간격을 두고 광변조기(120)에 인가할 수 있다.
도 4c는 광변조기(120)에 의해 선택적으로 추출된 레이저 펄스(LP)들을 나타낸 것이다. 제어부(130)에 시간에 따라 증가하는 전압 또는 고주파 전력이 인가되었으므로, 광변조기(120)에 의해 추출되는 레이저 펄스(LP)들은 시간에 따라 증가하는 출력을 가질 수 있다. 광변조기(120)에 전압 또는 고주파 전력이 인가되지 않는 구간에서는 레이저 펄스(LP)들이 추출되지 않을 수 있다.
도 4d는 광변조기(120)에서 추출된 후, 광증폭기(140)에 의해 증폭된 레이저 펄스(LP)들을 도시한 것이다. 도 4d를 참조하면, 동일한 군에 속하는 레이저 펄스(LP)들간의 시간 간격은 광증폭기(140)의 포화시간(ts)보다 작을 수 있다. 따라서, 먼저 입력된 레이저 펄스(LP)가 광증폭기(140)에 의해 증폭된 후, 다음 레이저 펄스(LP)가 입력될 때, 광증폭기(140)의 증폭매질에 축적된 에너지는 포화상태에 도달하기 전일 수 있다. 따라서, 후순위로 입력된 레이저 펄스(LP)는 먼저 입력된 레이저 펄스(LP)에 비해 증폭되는 정도가 작을 수 있다. 다만, 도 4c를 참조하면, 먼저 입력된 레이저 펄스(LP)의 출력이 후순위로 입력되는 레이저 펄스(LP)의 출력보다 작은 값을 나타내므로, 광증폭기(140)에 의해 증폭이 수행된 레이저 펄스(LP)들의 출력은 동일할 수 있다.
제어부(130)에 의해 광변조기(120)에 전압 또는 고주파 전력이 인가되는 구간에서는 레이저 펄스(LP)들이 추출되며, 레이저 펄스(LP)들간의 시간 간격은 100ns 이하가 될 수 있다. 반면에, 광변조기(120)에 전압 또는 고주파 전력이 인가되지 않는 구간에서는 레이저 펄스(LP)가 출력되지 않으며, 전압 또는 고주파 전력이 인가되지 않는 시간은 수백 ns 이상이 될 수 있다. 따라서, 제어부(130)에서 광변조기(120)로의 전압 또는 고주파 전력의 인가 및 비인가에 의해, 100ns 이하의 시간 간격을 갖는 레이저 펄스(LP)들의 그룹이 수백 ns 이상의 시간을 주기로 반복될 수 있으며, 이를 버스트 모드라고 할 수 있다.위 실시예에 따르면, 광변조기(120)에 인가되는 전기적인 신호를 임의로 조절함으로써, 가공하고자 하는 대상물의 종류에 따라 다양한 버스트 모드를 구현할 수 있으며, 이에 따라 생산성이 증대될 수 있다. 또한, 광학계를 이용하여 레이저 펄스(LP)의 버스트 모드를 생성하는 것에 비해 공간적으로 간단해 질 수 있다.
도 5a 내지 도 5d는 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 펄스 제어 장치(100)를 이용하여, 레이저 펄스(LP)들을 선택적으로 추출하여 증폭하는 과정을 도시한 것이다.
도 5a를 참조하면, 펄스 레이저 발생기(110)에 의해 발생된 레이저 펄스(LP)들은 서로 일정한 시간 간격을 가질 수 있다. 레이저 펄스(LP)들간의 시간 간격은 100ns이하일 수 있으며, 광증폭기(140)의 포화시간(ts)보다 작을 수 있다.
도 5b는 제어부(130)에 의해 광변조기(120)에 인가되는 전압 또는 고주파 전력을 나타낸 그래프이다. 도 4b를 참조하면, 제어부(130)는 시간에 따라 감소하다가 증가하는 전압 또는 고주파 전력을 일정한 시간 간격을 두고 광변조기(120)에 인가할 수 있다.
도 5c는 광변조기(120)에 의해 선택적으로 추출된 레이저 펄스(LP)들을 나타낸 것이다. 제어부(130)에 시간에 따라 감소하다가 증가하는 전압 또는 고주파 전력이 인가되었으므로, 광변조기(120)에 의해 추출되는 레이저 펄스(LP)들은 시간에 따라 감소하다가 증가하는 출력을 가질 수 있다. 광변조기(120)에 전압 또는 고주파 전력이 인가되지 않는 구간에서는 레이저 펄스(LP)들이 추출되지 않을 수 있다.
도 5d는 광변조기(120)에서 추출된 후, 광증폭기(140)에 의해 증폭된 레이저 펄스(LP)들을 도시한 것이다. 도 5d를 참조하면, 동일한 군에 속하는 레이저 펄스(LP)들간의 시간 간격은 광증폭기(140)의 포화시간(ts)보다 작을 수 있다. 따라서, 먼저 입력된 레이저 펄스(LP)가 광증폭기(140)에 의해 증폭된 후, 다음 레이저 펄스(LP)가 입력될 때, 광증폭기(140)의 증폭매질에 축적된 에너지는 포화상태에 도달하기 전일 수 있다. 따라서, 후순위로 입력된 레이저 펄스(LP)는 먼저 입력된 레이저 펄스(LP)에 비해 증폭되는 정도가 작을 수 있다. 광변조기(120)에 입력되는 전압 또는 고주파 전력을 조절함으로써, 광변조기(120)를 통과한 레이저 펄스(LP)의 출력이 감소하는 구간과 증가하는 구간의 형태를 조절할 수 있다. 이를 이용하여, 광증폭기(140)에 의해 출력되는 레이저 펄스(LP)의 출력의 형태는 감소하다가 증가하면서, 좌우가 대칭인 형태를 생성할 수 있다.
제어부(130)에 의해 광변조기(120)에 전압 또는 고주파 전력이 인가되는 구간에서는 레이저 펄스(LP)들이 추출되며, 레이저 펄스(LP)들간의 시간 간격은 100ns 이하가 될 수 있다. 반면에, 광변조기(120)에 전압 또는 고주파 전력이 인가되지 않는 구간에서는 레이저 펄스(LP)가 출력되지 않으며, 전압 또는 고주파 전력이 인가되지 않는 시간은 수백 ns 이상이 될 수 있다. 따라서, 제어부(130)에서 광변조기(120)로의 전압 또는 고주파 전력의 인가 및 비인가에 의해, 100ns 이하의 시간 간격을 갖는 레이저 펄스(LP)들의 그룹이 수백 ns 이상의 시간을 주기로 반복될 수 있으며, 이를 버스트 모드라고 할 수 있다.
위 실시예에 따르면, 광변조기(120)에 인가되는 전기적인 신호를 임의로 조절함으로써, 가공하고자 하는 대상물의 종류에 따라 다양한 버스트 모드를 구현할 수 있으며, 이에 따라 생산성이 증대될 수 있다. 또한, 광학계를 이용하여 레이저 펄스(LP)의 버스트 모드를 생성하는 것에 비해 공간적으로 간단해 질 수 있다.
전술한 본 발명의 설명은 예시를 위한 것이며, 본 발명이 속하는 기술분야의 통상의 지식을 가진 자는 본 발명의 기술적 사상이나 필수적인 특징을 변경하지 않고서 다른 구체적인 형태로 쉽게 변형이 가능하다는 것을 이해할 수 있을 것이다. 그러므로 이상에서 기술한 실시예들은 모든 면에서 예시적인 것이며 한정적이 아닌 것으로 이해해야만 한다. 예를 들어, 단일형으로 설명되어 있는 각 구성 요소는 분산되어 실시될 수도 있으며, 마찬가지로 분산된 것으로 설명되어 있는 구성 요소들도 결합된 형태로 실시될 수 있다.
본 발명의 범위는 상기 상세한 설명보다는 후술하는 특허청구범위에 의하여 나타내어지며, 특허청구범위의 의미 및 범위 그리고 그 균등 개념으로부터 도출되는 모든 변경 또는 변형된 형태가 본 발명의 범위에 포함되는 것으로 해석되어야 한다.

- 일정한 시간 간격으로 복수의 레이저 펄스를 발생시키는 펄스 레이저 발생기;구동에 의해 상기 레이저 펄스들 중 일부를 선택적으로 추출하는 광변조기;상기 광변조기에 인가되는 전기적인 신호를 시간에 따라 변화시키면서 상기 광변조기의 구동을 제어하는 제어부; 및상기 추출된 레이저 펄스들을 증폭하는 광증폭기;를 포함하는 펄스 제어 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 광변조기는 전기 광학 변조기(EOM; electro optics modulator)를 포함하는 펄스 제어 장치.
- 제 2 항에 있어서,상기 전기적인 신호는 전압을 포함하고, 상기 제어부는 상기 전기 광학 변조기에 시간에 따라 변화하는 전압을 인가하는 펄스 제어 장치.
- 제 3 항에 있어서,상기 광증폭기로부터 나오는 상기 레이저 펄스들의 출력은 일정하거나 또는 시간에 따라 변화하는 펄스 제어 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 광변조기는 음향 광학 변조기(AOM; acoustic optics modulator)를 포함하는 펄스 제어 장치.
- 제 5 항에 있어서,상기 전기적인 신호는 고주파 전력을 포함하고, 상기 제어부는 상기 음향 광학 변조기에 시간에 따라 변화하는 고주파 전력을 인가하는 펄스 제어 장치.
- 제 6 항에 있어서,상기 광증폭기로부터 나오는 상기 레이저 펄스들의 출력은 일정하거나 또는 시간에 따라 변화하는 펄스 제어 장치.
- 일정한 시간 간격으로 복수의 레이저 펄스를 발생시키는 단계;광변조기의 구동에 의해 상기 레이저 펄스들 중 일부를 선택적으로 추출하는 단계; 및상기 추출된 레이저 펄스들을 증폭하는 단계;를 포함하며,상기 추출하는 단계는, 제어부가 상기 광변조기에 인가되는 전압 또는 고주파 전력을 시간에 따라 변화시킴으로써 수행되는 펄스 제어 방법.
- 제 8 항에 있어서,상기 광변조기는 전압 인가에 의해 구동되는 전기 광학 변조기를 포함하며,상기 제어부는 상기 전기 광학 변조기에 시간에 따라 변화하는 전압을 인가하는 펄스 제어 방법.
- 제 9 항에 있어서,상기 전기 광학 변조기에 인가되는 전압은 시간에 따라 감소하거나 또는 시간에 따라 증가하는 펄스 제어 방법.
- 제 10 항에 있어서,상기 증폭된 레이저 펄스들의 출력은 일정하거나 또는 시간에 따라 변화하는 펄스 제어 방법.
- 제 8 항에 있어서,상기 광변조기는 고주파 전력 인가에 의해 구동되는 음향 광학 변조기를 포함하며,상기 제어부는 상기 음향 광학 변조기에 시간에 따라 변화하는 고주파 전력을 인가하는 펄스 제어 방법.
- 제 12 항에 있어서,상기 음향 광학 변조기에 인가되는 고주파 전력은 시간에 따라 감소하거나 또는 시간에 따라 증가하는 펄스 제어 방법.
- 제 13 항에 있어서,상기 증폭된 레이저 펄스들의 출력은 일정하거나 또는 시간에 따라 변화하는 펄스 제어 방법.
