Definitions

  • the present disclosure relates to a turbine housing and a turbocharger including the turbine housing.
  • the turbine wheel is rotated using the energy of the exhaust gas introduced from the engine, and the compressor wheel provided coaxially with the turbine wheel is rotated to supply compressed air to the intake manifold to reduce engine output.
  • Turbochargers designed to improve are known.
  • the turbine wheel of the turbocharger is housed in the turbine housing. Since the turbine housing is generally manufactured by casting, it has a large wall thickness and a large heat capacity in consideration of the flow of molten metal in the mold. In such a cast turbine housing, the thermal energy of the exhaust gas flowing through the turbine housing is absorbed by the turbine housing when the engine is started, so the temperature of the exhaust gas decreases. If the temperature of the exhaust gas decreases, there is a risk of hindering the temperature rise of the exhaust purification catalyst located downstream of the turbine. For this reason, in recent years, in order to reduce the heat capacity and reduce the weight of the turbine housing, there has been proposed a turbine housing made of a sheet metal manufactured by sheet metal working from a thin and flat metal plate.
  • Patent Document 1 discloses a turbine housing in which a heat shield space is formed between an inner peripheral surface of a housing portion forming a spiral space and an outer peripheral surface of a housing-side inner casing forming a spiral exhaust gas passage. ing.

  • the temperature of the exhaust gas introduced into the turbine wheel decreases, which may reduce the performance of the turbine wheel.
  • the heat input from the exhaust gas is large at the inlet connection portion and the temperature tends to be high, it may be difficult to secure the high temperature strength of the turbine housing.
  • Patent Document 2 discloses disposing the inner casing (housing-side inner casing, inlet-side inner casing) separately in each of the housing portion and the inlet connection portion, but the housing-side inner casing. There is no specific disclosure of connection between the inner casing and the inlet side inner casing. If there is a gap between the inner casing on the housing side and the inner casing on the inlet side, the exhaust gas leaks to the outside of the inner casing through the gap (internal leak), and heat from the exhaust gas to the housing part and inlet connection part Since the input becomes large, it may be difficult to secure the high temperature strength of the turbine housing.

  • exhaust gas introduced into the turbine housing is defined inside the inner housing, that is, inside the inlet member made of sheet metal and the inside scroll member made of sheet metal. It is designed to flow through a spiral flow path. Since the sheet metal inlet member and the sheet metal inner scroll member each have a small heat capacity, when the exhaust gas introduced into the turbine housing flows through the communication flow path and the spiral flow path, the thermal energy of the exhaust gas to the outside It is possible to suppress heat dissipation, and it is possible to prevent the temperature of the exhaust gas flowing in the turbine housing from decreasing.
