- This step consists of generating cooling of the bottom by the drawing rod, at the end of the blowing phase, over a very short time, at very localized locations on the bottom.
- JP2001088202 proposes a drawing and cooling rod, having orifices specifically provided for cooling the bottom of a preform. These orifices are located on the body of the rod, above the tip formed at the end of said rod. The tip is designed to be placed in contact with the bottom of the preform during stretching, then slightly recessed during the cooling phase, to allow the gas to escape from the orifices and, thereby, cool the bottom, at the end of the blowing phase.
