Definitions
- Transitions A technology for manufacturing glasses for drivers called "Transitions” has been developed, according to which photochromic glasses have been created, allowing the optical density of lenses to be increased when illuminated by bright light, see https://www.transitions.eom/ru/products/#transitions-drivewear But, since even in complete darkness the lenses of the glasses do not become completely transparent, but retain at least a small, but color shade, the developers of the technology warn that these lenses are not intended for use when driving a car at night.
- this device transparently colored yellow or made of yellow-tinted transparent material, reduces the brightness of the headlights of oncoming traffic at night, but at the same time it reduces the resolution of the driver's eyes when looking through the visor at non-contrasting objects in front of and around his vehicle, which can negatively affect road safety.
- the model of "protective” glasses “Ontel Night Sight
- the plane of the lenses contains two parts, one of which is transparent or a low-intensity optical filter density, and the other part of each lens is a colored optical filter of higher density.
- the boundary between two sections of the area of each lens with different optical density in glasses according to the prototype is also made inclined from the vertical towards the section of the area of the lens with lower optical density.
- the position of the boundary between two sections of the area of each lens with different optical density during their manufacture is set by the angles of inclination of the tangents to this boundary towards the section of the area of the lens with a smaller optical area, and the value of the angles of inclination of the tangents from the vertical is set in the range from zero to ninety degrees relative to the conditional straight line connecting the optical centers of both lenses of the glasses.
- the aim of the proposed invention "Driver's protective glasses for driving at night” is to simplify the technological process of manufacturing lenses.
- Protective glasses which are manufactured for use in countries with right-hand traffic, are made in such a way that the parts of the area of their lenses made in an optical shape that deflects the light of headlights falling on it to the edges of the driver's field of vision, and (or) weakens the light entering his eyes by directional dispersion, are located in the left part of the area of each lenses. And the parts of the lens area that are made flat or, for example, focal, are placed in the right part of the lens area.
- the driver When using protective glasses for the driver according to the proposed invention when driving on highways at night and with comfortable road lighting, the driver observes it in his field of vision through the transparent part of the lenses of the glasses, which, depending on the optical characteristics of his vision, can be flat or focal. The driver also observes the readings of the instruments on the car control panel through a part of the lenses of the glasses, which can also be flat or focal.
- the blinding light of the headlights of an oncoming vehicle appears in the driver's field of vision, he turns his head around the vertical and (or) horizontal axis so that the source of the blinding light falls into a part of the plane of the lenses, which is made, for example, in the form of prisms, or in the form of a Fresnel lens.
- the blinding light will be refracted and directed not at the driver's eyes, but at the edge and/or beyond the edge of his field of vision, which will allow him to comfortably continue to observe the traffic situation.
- the light from each headlight of an oncoming car falling on it will be refracted in it in such a way that the driver observing these, in fact, point sources of light, will see them in the form of vertically directed stripes that have a significantly lower brightness.
- the length of these stripes depends on the size of the segment of the circle of the transverse segment of the lenticular lens element. In this case, the driver can comfortably observe the movement of these dim stripes and, thus, safely control the movement of the oncoming car.
- the parts of the area of each of the lenses that protect the driver's eyes from the light of the headlights are structurally identical and are connected by means of a detachable or non-detachable connection to the other part of each lens, the optical parameters of which are selected depending on the characteristics of the driver's vision.
- the driver Before starting to drive a car on the road at night, in order to avoid the effect of blinding by the headlights of oncoming traffic, the driver first puts on protective glasses, in which the left upper part of the lenses is made in an optical form, the optical density of which weakens the light of the headlights falling on the driver's eyes and deflects the light of the headlights falling on it towards the edge of the driver's field of vision.
- This part of the lenses of the glasses is made in the form of a combination optical elements of a lenticular lens and optical elements of a Fresnel lens.
- the driver After starting to move, the driver monitors the traffic situation in his lane, as well as to the left and right of it, through the lower left and the entire right part of each lens, which, for example, are made flat.
- the driver When the headlights of an oncoming vehicle appear in the driver's field of vision and gradually approach, the driver gradually turns his head to the right around its vertical axis and forward - downward around its horizontal axis, so that the headlights enter his eyes through the upper left part of the area of each lens of the protective glasses. At the same time, the driver observes the traffic situation in his lane, to the left and right of it, first through the lower left and the entire right part of the area of the lenses of the glasses. After the headlights of an oncoming vehicle approach close, the driver observes the traffic situation in front of his car and in the lanes of the same traffic only through the right part of the lenses of the glasses. In this case, he observes the movement of the headlights of the oncoming vehicle through the upper left part of the lenses of the glasses, which he sees in the form of dim vertical stripes.
- the driver uses the ability of the human visual system and its brain to continuously fix the axis of vision on the object of observation, for example, on its own lane of traffic, regardless of the simultaneous rotation of the driver's head at a certain angle around its vertical and horizontal axes.
- An additional positive effect of the application of the proposed invention is the simplification of the manufacture of glasses for protecting the eyes of a driver who has visual defects and wears glasses with diopters during the daytime.
- part of the area of each lens the optical density of which weakens the light of the headlights falling into the eyes of the driver and (or) deflects the light of the headlights that falls on this part of each lens towards the edge of the driver's field of vision, is connected to another part of each lens, which is made focal (or flat and focal), by means of a detachable or permanent connection.
