Abstract
La presente se refiere a un procedimiento para la produccion de ácido eicosapentaenoico, ácido docosapentaenoico y/o ácido docosahexaenoico en plantas transgénicas, por medio del cual se proveen en la planta por lo menos una secuencia de ácidos nucleicos que codifica para un polipéptido con una actividad delta6-desaturasa; por lo menos una secuencia de ácidos nucleicos que codifica para un polipéptido con una actividad delta6-elongasa; por lo menos una secuencia de ácidos nucleicos que codifica para un polipéptido con una actividad delta5-desaturasa; y por lo menos una secuencia de ácidos nucleicos que codifica para un polipéptido con una actividad delta5-elongasa, en donde la secuencia de ácidos nucleicos que codifica para un polipéptido con una actividad delta5-elongasa, está modificada con respecto a la secuencia de ácidos nucleicos en el organismo del cual procede la secuencia de tal manera que está adaptada al uso del codon en una o más especies de plantas. Para la produccion de ácido docosahexaenoico se introducen en la planta una o más secuencias de ácidos nucleicos, que codifican para un polipéptido con una actividad delta4-desaturasa.
