Anstatt der oben beschriebenen Art der Oxydation und Fällung kann auch die Oxydation und Fällung in beliebiger anderer Weise vorgenommen werden, z. B. die Oxydation mit Hilfe von Chlor, Salpetersäure oder dgl. und die Fällung mit Soda oder Atzalkali.
Es sei noch bemerkt, dass es in gewissen Fällen vorteilhaft sein kann, dem Farbstoff schon vor oder während des Trocknens den Firnis zuzusetzen, so dass das Trocknen in derselben Zeit vor sich geht, in der die Vereinigung des Firnisses mit dem Farbstoff erfolgt. Diese Massregel kann auch auf das magnetische Ferro-Ferrioxyd, das in der Beschreibung zum Stumm-Patentt. beschrieben ist, angewendet werden.
