Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
EMI1.4

Process for cleaning exhaust gases, in particular from internal combustion and explosion engines.
EMI1.1
Fuels (petroleum, gasoline, lubricating oils and other substances) as they develop in pre-combustion and explosion engines. The method consists in bringing the exhaust gases, which are composed of combustion products and unburned vapor or gaseous fuel, into intimate contact with calcium chloride and calcium oxide in a closed container or propelling them through them before they are exhausted into the open.
In the explosion or combustion chamber of the engine, not all fuel vapors are completely burned, since the supplied oxygen in the air, which is necessary for combustion, is not sufficient to completely burn the fuel into carbonic acid and water. The air as a carrier of oxygen is never evenly mixed and varies greatly depending on the location, season and temperature of the outside air. So it always works
EMI1.2
On the other hand, the lubricating oils of the cylinders are burned as a result of the high heat and produce gaseous products similar to acrolein, which escape into the open with the above-mentioned evaporation of the fuel.
It is now known to drive the exhaust gases through quicklime for cleaning purposes, but this is not sufficient. to clean the exhaust gases of tarry and acrolein-like substances.
By driving this exhaust gas mixture through calcium chloride and calcium oxide, on the other hand, the exhaust gases are mainly cleaned of tarry and acrolein-like substances.
EMI1.3
this sound pot is shown in longitudinal and cross-section.
In the cylinder b surrounding the perforated exhaust pipe a is built a double insert formed from two concentric perforated jackets c and d gc
EMI1.4
Exhaust gases never exiting through dip perforations of the pipe a are initially distributed in the annular space i, penetrate through the perforations of the jacket into the aforementioned
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
and substances used for cleaning, which they pass through transversely and pass through the openings in the jacket d into the annular space k enclosed by the latter and the outer cylinder b, from which they flow out cleaned through the nozzle g.
It is advantageous to divide the insert cylinder 0, d into individual compartments by means of radial partitions m and to accommodate the same removably in cylinder b for easier replacement of the filling, with appropriately arranged support claws H securing the position of the insert in cylinder b.
