B. um Gusseisen, so erspart das Verfahren das Putzen, was stets eine langwierige, ungenaue und häufig kostspielige Arbeit ist, weil das Material des Kohlengehaltes wegen wenig homogen ist. Nach dem neuen Verfahren wird die Oberfläche des Gussstückes glatt und es ergibt sich infolgedessen ein reiner und gleichmässiger metallischer Niederschlag. Ferner bildet die Schicht nach dem Verfahren einen Isolator zwischen zwei Metallen und verhütet dadurch galvanische Ströme, ein Vorteil, der insbesondere für Schiffsböden, die zumeist mit Kupfer oder Zink beschlagen werden und in der bisherigen Ausführung häufig durch galvanische Ströme zerstört werden, von besonderer Bedeutung ist.
Besteht der Gegenstand aus Holz, so wird die Schicht selbst bei hoher Hitze nicht angegriffen. Die Schicht erhöht die mechanische Widerstandsfähigkeit des Holzgegenstandes und schützt ihn gegen Feuchtigkeit.
Handelt es sich um Gegenstände aus gepresstem Papier, aus welchem man bekanntlich die mannigfachsten Artikel, z. B. Boote, Fässer, Eisenbahnschienen, Schwellen, Gesimse, Drucktypen, Blumenvasen, Bausteine usw., macht, so ist klar, dass die Verbreitung dieses Materials ausserordentlich zunehmen muss, nachdem es durch die Erfindung erreicht ist, darauf eine Metallschicht anzubringen.
Infolge seiner ausserordentlichen Leichtigkeit eignet sich gepresstes Papier in Verbindung mit dem neuen Verfahren besonders für Maschinen oder MaEcb'nellteiie des
Luftschiff- und Flugzeugbaues und sonst noch für solche Zwecke, be : denen es auf L, chtigk-eit,
