Verfahren zur Herstellung formbarer elastischer Leimmasse.
Die Herstellung hochelastischer Gebrauchsgegenstände aus Leim an Stelle von Gummifabrikaten bereitet hinsichtlich der Formgebung grössere Schwierigkeiten, wenn Glyzerin und Chromate nicht zur Verfügung stehen. Es hat sich nun gezeigt, dass auch unter Verwendung von wassergelösten Glyzerin-Ersatzmitteln (Chloride der zweiwertigen Metalle, Zucker, Melasse) eine gute Formbarkeit der Masse erzielt wird, wenn zu der wässerigen Lösung von Leim und Chloriden usw. mit oder ohne Beimengung von Mineralstoffen ausser Aldehyden oder Aldehyde abgebenden organischen Substanzen Alkalihydroxyde oder-Karbonate zugesetzt werden.
Beispiel : Eine Lösung, bestehend aus 100 Teilen Leim, 5 Teilen Pottasche, 40 Teilen Wasser wird mit 50 Teilen Schwerspat, 40 Teilen Chlorzink, 10 Teilen Acetaldehydammoniak oder Hexamethylentetramin innig verrührt, in entsprechende Formen (z. B.

Die Wirksamkeit des Alkalizusatzes beruht auf der Möglichkeit, die wässerige Leim- lösung ganz unverhältnismässig konzentrierter anzusetzen als ohne diesen Zusatz. Die hohe Konzentration der Leimlösung ist aber unerlässlich, damit die das Endprodukt bildende plastische Masse tatsächlich die von Fabrikaten aus Gummiersatzmassen geforderte Festigkeit und Formbeständigkeit besitzt.
Die beim Zusatz von Clorzink, Chlormagnesium oder dgl. eintretende Fällung hindert die beschriebene Arbeitsweise keineswegs, weil diese Reaktion in der sehr stark kolloidalen Lösung derart verzögert wird, dass sie praktisch auf den Verlauf des Arbeitsganges keinen Finfluss auszuüben vermag. Aus dem gleichen Grunde wirkt ein Zusatz von Zucker ähnlich wie solcher von Chlorzink.
