Abstract

1. A method of mounting a stop-cock in a road, wherein a stop-cock is provided underground at the bottom of a pipe trench (2), an extendable keyed rod (4) is arranged so as to extend upwards from the stop-cock, the pipe trench (2) is filled in, a road surface (7) is constructed over the filled in pipe trench (2), the keyed rod is extended to the desired length for use, an excavation (8) is effected following the construction of the road surface (7) and the excavation (8) is filled in again with the keyed rod (4) extended to the length for use, characterised in that, prior to the construction of the road surface (7), the keyed rod is shortened so that the upper end lies within the pipe trench (2) slightly below the road surface (7) to be constructed, the excavation carried out after the construction of the road surface (7) is effected only up to the upper end of the keyed rod (4) and the extension to the desired length is effected by moving the upper end of the keyed rod out of the pipe trench (2).
